Packers Release Two: DE Michael Montgomery and S Matt Giordano

Stay connected for news and updates

Nothing personal towards either of them, but it's about time the Green Bay Packers released DE Michael Montgomery and S Matt Giordano

Montgomery was a good backup defensive end in the 4-3, but he was out of place in a 3-4 defense. He wasn't a good fit when he was resigned back in March, and he rarely played last season. It didn't make any sense to pay him $1.325 million for 2010.

Giordano was signed with a reputation as a special teams ace, but he was rarely left active to play on defense or special teams, and he did nothing when he was actually on the field.
