Aaron Kampman In Jacksonville
While the Bears and Lions did their best to get free agency off to a fast start, LB Aaron Kampman wasn't the first priority for either team, the Bears went for DE Julius Peppers and the Lions for DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, so now Kampman is making the rounds. He was in Jacksonville on Saturday according to Jacksonville.com:
At 30, Kampman appears to be in the prime of his career. He'd be a welcome addition to the Jags, which are coming off a disappointing season in which they produced a league-low 14 sacks.
It doesn't feel like Kampman's in the prime of his career. Maybe I'm just accustomed to the recent Packer teams with an average age around 26 years old. Though River City Rage at Big Cat Country described Kampman as "older" and concluded his signing would be questionable.
Jacksonville.com has a nice roundup of all the recent Kampman rumors:
Kampman had been rumored to be drawing interest from Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Seattle. But by coaxing Kampman to take his first free agent visit to Jacksonville, the Jags may have increased their chances of landing him. Kampman’s representatives remain in contact with Philadelphia, but it’s unclear whether he plans to visit the Eagles or any of the other teams that have expressed interest.

An ACL injury automatically cancels "prime of his career"...
At least to my knowledge. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and can contribute defensively next year.
Kampman is one of the few Hawkeyes I like out there…

Yeah, definitely does. I wouldn’t say by any means he is in the prime of his career but I still think he has some good years left.
