What ya think, Packers fans?

This'll be a short post.  I'm over here from my usual blog, MileHighReport, to ask you all a question..What would you think about the Pack trading up with the Broncos in the first round? Green Bay gets 11 overall, Denver gets 23 overall and 56 overall.  Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles and the Packers have both "expressed interest" in trading up to the 10-12 range.  I am curious if you can see this happening, if you like the idea, and who the Packers might be going after if they were to trade up there through us.  Thanks.

I don't know

I would rather see the pack move down then move up.

But who do you think they're looking for in the 10-12 range?

Eddie Royal will have a breakout season in 2010. Count on it.

Definitely an OT. We need a LT pretty darn bad and it’s starting to seem more and more like the top 6 OT’s may be gone by 23. With that being said, I don’t think the 11th pick could necessarily get us one of the top guys so I’m not sure that moving up would be worth it. Maybe our staff knows something that the general public does not though.

It still would be hard to give up our 1st and 2nd round pick though. We have pretty great needs at OT and Cb, and I’m not sure that we’ll be able to get one of the better Cb prospects with our 3rd rounder.

Ok, thanks for the feedback,

I’m interested because it seems like McDaniels wants to trade down, we Broncos fans are trying to figure out who it would be with. And off topic, I live in Minnesota but I hate the Vikings, so I always cheer for the Pack when they play..thanks again, and have a fun draft!

Would it be OT?

Too me it seems like the OT guys that would be in that range would still be there at 23. Maybe one or two (Davis, Campbell) would go before 23 but I dont see the bigger names droppig out of the top 10. If we did make that move could it be to get Spiller? Or Haden both of whom seem to be mid teen guys…

And I agree with PAD I doubt TT would switch firsts and give up a second rounder to move up 12 spots. Maybe a 3rd but I would not think a second. Its not like last year when he gave it up to get another pick in the first.

by bizzle4 on Apr 20, 2010 5:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe it wouldn’t be an OT. I was kind of thinking if we were to trade up it would be to grab a Buluga or Williams but like you pointed out I’m not sure we would be able to get either of those guys at 11.

I hope it wouldn’t be for Spiller. If we did do that maybe we’d be looking at Earl Thomas, Derrick Morgan, or Pierre-Paul. All those guys would probably make an immediate impact for us.

by packallday555 on Apr 21, 2010 9:22 AM CDT up reply actions

I hope we trade up :D

Earl Thomas?
Eric Berry?
Joe Haden?
Brian Bulaga?
Trent Williams?
Derrick Morgan?
Jason Pierre-Paul?

They want power. We want respect...

I can see Thomas,

Haden maybe, maybe Bulaga, and probably either Morgan or Pierre-Paul. I’m not sure you guys would want either of the DEs, though, seeing as you run a 3-4.

Eddie Royal will have a breakout season in 2010. Count on it.

by stedtfeld on Apr 20, 2010 12:58 AM CDT up reply actions

I hope we get Thomas. I don’t really know why would need a DE, but who knows. Maybe Ted Thompson really loves Morgan or JPP. They say GB’s personnel is comfortable with the current O-Line and Brad Jones at OLB, so maybe it’d be for Haden or one of the two safeties.

We're comfortable with your current o-line as well...

However, we’re much more comfortable with it when your tackles are injured. Even if he’s happy with his line play as of now he has to be thinking that he needs a quality back up in case Tauscher or Clifton goes down. Last year without both of them was pretty brutal for you.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

I’ve read that Morgan and Pierre-Paul both have the athleticism to play OLB in the 3-4. So they could be options. I think Morgan is the best pass rusher in the draft, so getting him would be really nice.

I’m with you on Thomas though. Think about how nice it’d be to have a SS who can actually cover, and even play a nickel spot if needed too. The more I read about him the more I like him.

by packallday555 on Apr 21, 2010 9:25 AM CDT up reply actions

I've heard Morgan is more suited as a 4-3 end and Pierre-Paul has too high of a chance to bust

I say we stay where we’re at and grab Hughes, Kindle, or Graham then go OT in the second.

by Charlie Kelly on Apr 21, 2010 11:21 AM CDT up reply actions

Current O-Line

Is scary. Pass protection is weak and they don’t really open holes for the running game. Although I think I’d be happy with Earl Thomas, I’d just as soon sit back and make more picks. Pierre-Paul is interesting but too risky, Berry and Williams probably won’t be there, and Morgan doesn’t really fit our scheme. Wouldn’t want to see the Packers get rid of their 2nd rounder unless it netted them an additional 1st, not a higher first pick.

by I voted for Kodos on Apr 20, 2010 1:34 AM CDT reply actions

I don't like the idea at all

Nobody that would be of that value to us would probably be available at that pick. Chances are if we stay where we’re at, we can get a starting quality OLB at 23 and a decent enough OT at 56.

by Charlie Kelly on Apr 20, 2010 7:09 AM CDT reply actions

if we move up...

I think its to get a CB or OT. This is a nice draft for OT, but there is a chance none of the top 6 will even make it to us…we all know the premium put on those guys. I don’t think moving up for a pass rushing OLB makes sense. Its a position you don’t need to go with a high pick on (someone could come from a late first, second or third and make an impact) so giving up a second rounder for that move just doesn’t make sense for me unless its a top 10 guy that is falling.

by TrevorR on Apr 20, 2010 8:41 AM CDT reply actions

So how would you guys like to get Bulaga?

Eddie Royal will have a breakout season in 2010. Count on it.

by stedtfeld on Apr 20, 2010 1:19 PM CDT reply actions

I would

But I don’t think he’s worth trading up for. Also, he’s projected as more of a right tackle if I’m not mistaken and I doubt he’ll be available at the 11 spot.

by Charlie Kelly on Apr 20, 2010 1:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldnt mind

But the only way we would get him is to trade up into the top 10 at least and I wouldnt want to do that.

TRADING UP

I GUESS YOU DONT KNOW WHO THE PACKERS GM IS ,IN 6 YEARS IN GREENBAY HES ONLY TRADED UP 1 TIME !

by BIRDMAN62 on Apr 20, 2010 5:11 PM CDT reply actions

For one, this is his 6th season now so you can’t count that one.
Another point, when he came here, he was asked to rebuild an old fading team. How do you do that? Stockpiling draft picks by trading down and getting lots of young, cheap talent onto the roster. Last year was the first time he traded up…it is also coincidentally around the time the team was ready to move on from rebuilding mode. You might be shocked how smart this guy is…even if he is kind of a prick.

Good points. Seems like he is willing to make the move if he feels the talent and value is there.

Ok?

That doesn’t mean he will never do it again

by stedtfeld on Apr 20, 2010 7:52 PM CDT reply actions

Since the draft is 3 days now...

I can see TT staying put since he has more time to evaluate who is left on the list after day 1 and in the later rounds. He might move up but I highly doubt that he’s going to give up another pick especially when he has all this time to look closer at all the players in the later rounds

by bprovot on Apr 21, 2010 12:43 AM CDT reply actions

Would like to see them move up if the right persons on the board

like Eric Berry but it doesnt look like he will still be on the board …. so I would rather stay where were at!
