Adalius Thomas
I was just wondering what everyone would think about signing Adalius Thomas. I know he had a terrible tenure in New England, but the guy has experience in the 3-4 as an Outside Linebacker. He is turning 33 in July, but he could have a couple more decent years left in him. With Brad Jones having a solid, but unspectacular rookie season I think that we should at least look into signing him. We are competing for a super bowl right now and if he pans out we would have a much better defense. He seems to have a bit of baggage with complaining about playing time, but its not like he is carrying guns onto planes or getting DUI's. What do ya'll think???

It depends...
If he wants to play here and really is motivated I’m sure he will be a solid addition. But if theres no market for good ol’ Adalius Thomas and gets frustrated in that alone then I think the baggage might to a little too much.
They want power. We want respect...
Well put.
If I was a GM thinking about this, his attitude would be the key. I wouldn’t be against signing him, but I’d want to know that I was signing a player and not a wanna’ be coach.
Any time a player complains about scheme, playing time, or whatever, it would be a huge red flag for me. I’d be like “okay, okay, thanks for your thoughts on what you think about everybody else and what they’re doing. Now I have a suggestion. How about you shut your frickin’ cake-hole and do your damn job.”

No thanks, he's washed up
If he can’t generate a pass rush in NE, he ain’t gonna do it in GB.

yeah
as much as an athletic freak as he was, he’s done.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
I think you have to at least kick those tires...
…if for no other reason, to keep him off the Jets! You know they are going to hot on his jock and that D is already too stacked. I think he still has some in him. Keep in mind, 2008 was an injury riddled season, last year was a disaster but I think he quit on them. He and Bellichek were clearly at odds…maybe this is similar to a RAndy Moss in Oakland kind of thing. He made his big bucks now its time for him to get a ring. He would be good for the claymaker to learn from too. If we can get him for an affordable price, I say we go for it!
Why does this happen everytime a player gets released?
You know who our GM is and you know this won’t happen.
sorry?
I never said it was going to happen. Its just interesting to think about.

Capers was with Adalius in new England for the 2008 season. I would think if we express no interest that would mean Capers was not impressed. Considering Thompson’s release and if Capers was impressed with Thomas, Capers would have enough pull with TT to get him in.
From the financial side, Adalius should come fairly cheap considering how he departed from New England. But he is 33 years old, which in TT speak is the equivalent of 72.
Other Suggestions
I see everyone knocking this “old” guy, but how about some suggestions? Anyone research the recent signings yet?
Unless you guys are planning on going 19-0...
…I wouldn’t recommend taking him. He wants to be the center of attention and our teams don’t allow for showboating players. He’s better off going to the Jets, Raven, Cowboys, or Raiders.
