Former Packer QB Cut Again

Former Packer practice squad QB Mike Reilly, was released once again.  This time by the Seattle Seahawks.  Reilly was a record setting QB at Central Washington U., the alma mater of former NFL qb Jon Kitna.  He went from the practice squad of the Packers to St. Louis, released by the Rams, and on to the Seahawks, where he was released again.  All of this in less than one year.  Reilly has some promise, and I hope the Packers remember that promise and give this guy an invite to camp.

Probably not terrible

Here’s what I wrote about him last year. Teams have to be patient with young QBs because they usually need at least two seasons of NFL coaching, but all NFL teams are under pressure to win now.

Wasn’t he signed off our practice squad and not released?

QB

Why bring him back… Been there done that… We have 2 young QB’s on the roster now. Is Reilly any better than either of them? Seems they are all alike to me. If they distinguish themselves when given the chance, they wouldn’t be released. DOn’t see any reason to give him another chance.

everybody

deserves a second chance———-even you strohman. if you go back to the DN and be “nice” they might let you back in over there.

2nd chance

I didn’t say he doesn’t deserve a 2nd chance… Just don’t see why the Packers in particular should give it too him…. They already know what and who he is!!! If he’s alot better than whats taking up a roster spot, then he likely will. But let some other team w/ alot more QB issues take a chance on him. Theres alot of teams w/ out there, where he’ll have a better chance than in GB!

BTW-Blow ME!!!

Why the emphasis on the “ME” anyway?

Screw the emphasis on “ME” haha. What was with, “BTW-Blow ME!!!” lol? I wasn’t expecting that.

Sure, give him an invite

Let him compete with Graham Harrell for a spot at 3rd String or Practice Squad.

Its not like we have anything all that promising behind Rodgers…give him a shot. Hopefully he can push the guys back there.

A backup is a high priority

You can’t go thru 16 games and not expect injuries . Forcing Aaron to play thru injuries was a high risk reward accomplishment last year . This team put it in another gear early on and showe some resolve . This defense is coming along . It’s not enough to win the North outright . Aaron will need more than a deep ball to reclaim some Packer fame !!!!

The colts have been doing that with Manning for his entire career. I don’t think they’ve had a legit backup his entire career. I don’t worry as much about our #2 guy right now as I did in Rodgers rookie year. He’s shown a lot of growth. I used to say we needed a better backup but I think we are okay now. Just because you don’t know anything about him doesn’t mean he isn’t good.

Good points. It’s rather obvious that the only reason goth brings this up is because he believes the Vikings have great depth in Jackson and Sage. And it’s really one of few things I guess you could criticize our team about. Though like you pointed out, who knows about Flynn. He looked fine when he came in at teams last year but those were points where games were out of hand.
