Murphy Thinks Lambeau Super Bowl Is "Very Intriguing"
I guess it's easy for Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy to find something that's never going to happen "very intriguing." Can you see the other 31 NFL teams voting to host the Super Bowl in Green Bay?

….I’m sorry, did you want us to write more to that?
No, I mean it is a very intriguing idea and does make a part of me smile, but I just don’t see it working at all. The logistics aren’t simply there.
Can't happen
Packers don’t have the “required” minimum number of local hotel rooms available to host the Super Bowl. Murphy has to know this.
Not only...
do they not have the required minimum number of hotel rooms in GB…but the hotels they have to offer are just not that nice. Sure there are a couple nice ones but nothing like what you’ll see in the other host cities. It would be like them awarding the SB to somewhere in Iowa or something…just not gonna happen. If the Pack played in Milwaukee I think they might have a chip and a chair but in GB there is NO way it will even be a discussion.
It might give hope to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Minnesota (if they ever get their stadium), etc. Really it was Detroit that opened this door though…
they could stay in Appleton
or bring lots of Madden style buses with turducken and ps3s and the whole lot

I’ll preface this by saying I was born and raised in Appleton and my family all still lives there (even though I don’t). Appleton doesn’t have THAT much in the way of really nice hotels either. YOu’ve got the PVH (or Radisson now I think) and then just a bunch of run of the mill Holiday Inns and stuff like that. Appleton doesn’t have too much to offer in that area either.
The really nice hotels aren't even in Milwaukee
In Wisconsin it’s pretty much Kohler that would have the accommodations to be able to pull this off on the VIP site. If somehow were to happen I would try to invest more in the American Club.

geez…Kohler is a LONG ways from Green Bay though. That is a one hour 10 minute ride (or so) without traffic…add in Super bowl traffic and YIKES.
I agree that the nicest hotels are probably there, but they aren’t that big. I was mentioning Milwaukee largely due to the size of the hotels. There are some pretty decent ones there…they still blow the doors off what Green Bay has to offer!
Well...
As improbable as it sounds, just imagine it! Maybe not in the near future, but ten years from now? Maybe GB will have enough hotel rooms by then? Maybe not, but hey anything is possible. Right? Just imagine, battling for the Lombardi trophy at Lambeau field! Anyways…

dream on...
it will never happen unless GB becomes a city of like 400,000…then maybe the topic can come up again.
Part of this is from the mistake the NFL made when they let Jacksonville and Detroit host
People hated going to those cities because there was nothing to do. It’s also why they won’t have it in Indy or Minny anytime soon. The suits and sponsors want to go somewhere they can party, and the weather is probably now a secondary thought. The 3 hour game time is not the most important part for the attendants.

Hotels
I can’t see GB getting a SB either… Just not the kinda city the Power Brokers want to go to in Feb…. It’ll never happen!!
On another note about hotels… The Packers have about 20 acres east of Lambeau, that I could easily see the Packers using to build their own hotel on… It could have a Packer theme, and give the Packer revenue year round… It could become the preferred place to stay for games for out of town guests!
interesting idea
I wonder if they have something cooked up for that. I dont’ think doing a Packer theme would be smart though as many of the people staying there would be fans of opposing teams!
I wonder if the league has rules/laws about the teams owning things like that though…conflicting interests. I like how you think there though.
opposing fans
Who cares about the opposing teams fans!!! I’m talkin about the PACKER fans… Let the opposing team fans stay at the Midway Motor Lodge or the Radisson. Packer fans, YEAR round would want to stay there… Would be another draw and money maker for the Packers!!! IMO, this is THE next idea to generate revenue for the team and organization!!!
eh…so what is the draw? Maybe I am not fanatical enough, but I don’t see the draw i na Packer themed room!!!! Yippee so they havea picture of Aaron Rodgers on the wall…wowie!!! Maybe they have a room with Packer history in it or something but honestly people aren’t going to pay for a Packer themed room!!! Okay!!!
just my two cents…
LOL
Well we weren’t talking price. If its cheap enough obviously people will come but I think you do the Packer theme to charge a premium, right? I’d probably stay out at the casino if I were staying out there anyway. Packer pictures vs blackjack tables? Blackjack tables will win everytime!
Yeah
Not exactly sure just where, but very near, if memory serves… Maybe part of the Kmart lot or something…
