Acme Packing Company Fantasy Football on CBSSports.com

Cbssports

My initial reaction was it's too early to talk about fantasy football, but I've gotten some emails over the past couple months asking about it, so it's on the minds of some people. And it's definitely on the minds of CBSSports.com.

CBSSports.com and SB Nation has a 50% discount when you sign up for a Commissioner League by following this link, or clicking on the logo above, and it costs $90. And there is a 14-day free trial if you'd like to test drive it.

I would personally love to join multiple leagues. If anyone is interested in organizing a league through CBSSports.com, I'd join and give you one guaranteed paying member. Send me an email (the link is at the bottom of the page) but it has to be a CBSSports.com league and you have to sign up through one of the special offer links from this post.

Why would anyone pay for a fantasy football site? That's always been my question too. I've only had a CBSSports.com fantasy football team once before, and it was great. They charge money because they're the best league. It can be customized, they've got multiple draft options, live chat, and live scoring. All the options are listed here. But there are two things I really love about it:

 - I can manage my team on my mobile phone.

 - I can customize the rules. The one I love to customize is points based on TD yardage. Then I can stop worrying if I've got one of those TEs or RBs who only comes in around the goal line, and the big play/long TD guys get more points like they deserve.

Are you looking to join the Acme Packing Company fantasy football league at CBSSports.com? Well I'm the commissioner of at least one league this year, but I haven't decided how I'm going to run it. I'm leaning towards invite only, so I can't promise anyone an open spot.

CBSSports.com is an SB Nation partner and paying sponsor of the SB Nation football communities.

This post is one of a series of sponsor endorsed posts related to the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner League.

CBS is a Lamborghini

Its the most expensive but once you’ve been in one and try a cheaper one or a free one you will go RUNNING back. I hate how expensive it is, but honestly its the best product out there and ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE. That said, you have to weigh the pros and cons…are you willing to give up features and quality to add more back into the pot. Some are…I don’t blame them. We’ve gone back and forth on it over the past few years but in the end we just aren’t willing to give up such a great product.

NFL.com site

For me, $90 is a road block. There is no way I could pay that and have my wife let me sleep indoors at the same time. Maybe that’s just me.

I have been hearing great things about the NFL.com’s revamping of their fantasy league, you might want to check that one out. I imagine that they will release an iPhone app for the league sometime before the season starts.

follow up

I looked at the NFL.com site and you can customize a ton of the points settings.

Its $90 for the league…not just for one person. So if its a 12 team league you are talking like $7 a team.

Oh, ok. Then I’d be all over that.

Can I get in on that?

I’d love to be part of your league if you have room. I’ve been playing for the past three years but don’t know anyone to be in a league with, so it’s always with a bunch of randoms that veto every single trade just because they can. Still fun, but I’d love to play within a community, even if it means my chances of grabbing Rodgers or Finley at decent values in a league of Packer fans will be non-existent.

CBS is the way to go, and I’m not just saying that because you mentioned it. It is so much cleaner and easier to navigate than ESPN or FOX, which are the other two sites I have played on.

You thinking snake or auction? I’ve always been to intimidated to do an auction, but I wanted to try one this next year.

I’d join in a league with guys from on here too!

I have been playing

with an outfit many of you have probably never heard of, called Scoresheet Sports, for about 15 years now.
They charge us $49 per team, but about 9 or 10 ( out of 12) of us have been in this same league together for a lot of years now and long ago bumped it up to $150, strictly to sweeten the pot.
It is steep, but when you collect about a grand for winning the championship, and are good enough to do it occasionally (as opposed to just once), it is well worth it! :)

I was in a league last year that had a 250 buy in cost… Ended up winning over 400 total even thou I finished as the runner up… You guys looking for another player? My only problem is living in AZ we arent’ allowed to collect winning from a site. We have to do some kind of payment in person. I think AZ considers it gambling… IF I have to pay the host site, I won’t get paid!!!

by Strohman on Jun 22, 2010 10:42 AM CDT up reply actions

We do what I think you mean by “some kind of payment in person” in that we all give our money to the guy who we long ago made the commisioner, and he sends the part that Scoresheet charges us on in to Scoresheet, so that would probably cover you in that area.
But, the thing that I think would probably be a problem is that right now, everybody in the league is local here in Anchorage (although Scoresheet, which coordinates leagues all over the country, is based in Calif) and we conduct a live, in-person draft, and I think the guys would prefer to keep it that way (as long as we are ABLE to), simply because it is easier than the alternatives.
On the other hand, those alternatives are preferable to not having 12 teams, for sure!
But, I’ll tell you what.
I’ll talk with the other guys, and see what they think.
And, I’ll keep you in mind, if there’s any way we can get you in.

Thanx

You don’t have to “make” room for me… If there is an opening and you do an online draft, I would be interested… Apprectiate it thou… Thanx Pat

I hear ya on the in person draft. I think that is the best part of the season. We are trying to figure out what to do next year when my co-commish is moving to DC. I think we are going to have him take on a teammate or something who can do the draft. Online drafting is boring and so impersonal.

I'm back for more

I had a great time in the league last year (even if I am still sorta bitter about my regular-season-#1 playoffs-implosion performance). I’m definitely back wherever we go again, and I’m more than happy to split part of CBS’ fees.
