Signing The 2010 Draft Choices
It seems like every year there's some story about how slow it's going with rookie contract negotiations, and every year it seems to work out fine. NT B.J. Raji signed after missing the first two weeks of training camp, but he didn't get off to a slow start in 2009 due to the missed practice time: it was his ankle injury that limited him.
Here's the list of 2010 draft signings from Walter Football.
The good news is that S Morgan Burnett appears to be the next Packer draft choice to sign. If there is any player who needs all the practice time he can get in training camp, it's Burnett since SS Atari Bigby remains unsigned. I expected Burnett would be the next Packer to sign two weeks ago, but TE Andrew Quarless jumped ahead of him as the Packers continue to sign their way backwards through their draft choices.
If Burnett signs, the only remaining unsigned draft choices are 1st round LT Bryan Bulaga and 2nd round DE Mike Neal.

Well, to say that Raji only got off to a slow start because of his ankle injury misses the point. Holdouts always get injured because they come in out of football shape. …which is not to say that they’re not working out on their own or that they’re sitting on their couch eating chips. No, there’s just no way to simulate being in camp.
So, not getting knowledge or not getting to know the team or whatever… that’s all part of it. But the total package is: be in camp or you’re probably not going to be a contributor. Can’t help the club from the tub, as the saying goes.
