FYI as a Philly fan I've always respected the Packers after Favre left. I like McCarthy and the other plays don't bother me at all either. A real nice set of skill players dare I might add.
OK, but week 1 is coming (feels like an eternity) and I wanted to know what the deal with the packers was this off season. I didn't follow your guys draft or FA too much. So here's what my breakdown is and throw in what you think.
Eagles: We are VERY good at the skill positions, Maclin, Jackson, Avant are all very solid and Brent Celek just emerged as a 1k TE last year as well. Our FB is one of the best play making FBs in the business and gets a lot of our carries -- all pro. Our line, when healthy, is above average but RG and C are possible question marks.
We have a question mark at the LCB and FS position and we're not sure how the LB situation (which was weak last year) is going to pan out either. But Bradley is a pro bowl caliber player before his injury and Ernie Sims at one point was a good player too -- so we'll see.
We added Daryl Tapp and drafted Brandon Graham to bolster our pass rush (which was also weak last year). Our DTs are very solid up front and when paired with a good FS our SS Quinten Mikkel can play at a pro bowl and even made 2nd year old pro the year before (was not great last year though).
On the Packers side of the ball I see a shaky (did they fix it?) O-line with a good young QB, with a set of brilliant WRs (although Driver is getting up there in age). Grant had a down year right ? (but he's still one of the better Rbs out there) and to my knowledge the defense improved somewhat...
Your CBs played awesome last year but is age starting to be a concern? How about safeties? LBs look very solid and how bad is JJ getting suspended the year going to hurt?
We have a very solid S/T corps now, how is yours?
I predict a medium-high scoring game as the offenses work some kinks out. You won't be facing McNabb but many feel Kolb's skill set is better suited for our offense at this point in McNabb's career anyway. And I;m guessing its basically whomever's defense makes some plays is going to win this one.
Come on week 1..Fill me in on your teams concerns and injuries and ask me anything I didn't cover. As far as I know everyone is healthy and ready for TC on our side.
