Packers Sign 2nd Round Pick Mike Neal
The Green Bay Packers officially announced the news that they've signed rookie 2nd round pick DE Mike Neal. As texwestern pointed out, there was a tweet from the man himself:
There's been a mini-run on late 2nd round picks lately: the Patriots have signed LB Brandon Spikes, and the Saints signed OL Charles Brown, to name two. I don't feel bad about LT Bryan Bulaga remaining unsigned because the only 1st round pick signed is Cowboys WR Dez Bryant. I guess teams aren't feeling the urgency until the eve of camp.

If you look at Bulaga's twitter feed
You would have thought that he’s already signed. He’s telling him he’ll see him at camp and asking the vets what it’s going to be like. Not that I was worried about it, but at least it doesn’t sound like Bulaga has any plans of an extended hold out except for the reasons of him getting slotted in the rookie pay scale.

"The rookie pay scale"
There’s something wrong right there. Sorry, y’all, but there is.

I hope I wrote that write right
It’s something like that. I just know that all but one first rounder are pretty much waiting for Sam Bradford to sign so they can be signed accordingly. Hopefully this is address in the new CBA because it’s a little ridiculous.

ahead of the curve
The vikings still only have like 3 picks signed and no one above round 5 so we are in good shape! I love seeing these guys getting in camp quickly!
holdouts = injured players
So I’m glad we avoided that.
And, as important as Bulaga is to our long-term plans, I actually would call him the least important pick to sign early. …although you could make an argument for Quarless. Hopefully these guys can kind of have a red-shirt year. But, Neal… no, we’re going to need him right away.
Neal=Strong
Does he remind anyone else of Kenny Peterson? Strong as an ox, but KP could never get on the field as a Packer. I hope the same is not true of our newest member.
It's Great They Signed the Guy
and it seems they are putting a lot of eggs in his basket. Anyone else out there thing Jolly is a real significant loss? ahem, Pickett on the end, and Neal, and who else of note? Coax Matt Brock out of retirement!
Jolly is a big loss
But I think were prepared for it, I do have a little inside scoop they think Pickett will do well out there
Thats not an inside scoop...
They think he will do well at DE, but there is no way to know since he has never played outside in his life! I hope there right, but I would feel alot better if Jolly were still around. THey prepared for it as best they could though…
Not an inside.
Cuz I read that they said that a couple weeks ago. Not a journalist, but a quote from McCarthy.
Jarius Wynn?
I take it no one is a Jarius Wynn fan, then? They’re supposed to make the biggest jump between years 1 and 2. I don’t recall reading much about Wynn’s development. It thus appears we’re putting many eggs in the Mike Neal basket.
I think Pickett is a player – but the jury is more than out about a 320 pound end who has limited experience with the position.
I like Wynn
6th rounders seem to become starters on a somewhat regular basis in the NFL, so why not Wynn? I’m not sure about his play on the field, and I remember he was in the game and stymied and the end of the Pittsburgh game last year, but he does have a name that sound like an NFL player
OK then...
Lets give him a roster spot cuz his name sounds like an NFL player!!! LOL
Wynn has some potential, but he needs to get bigger and stronger. From what I heard he is up to 285, but he should probably still gain 10-15 lbs to play DE effectively. He has some pass rush ability though.
regular basis?
Not sure what you consider a regular basis. It happens from time to time but its certainly not a regular thing.
pas rush
dont care whos playing we need more pass rush this yr. not just mathews, woodson. get it done.
