Maybe The Packers Will Sign Bryan Bulaga
So the Green Bay Packers training camp is starting on July 31, and rookie 1st round LT Bryan Bulaga remains unsigned. The Journal-Sentinel says they're close, which isn't surprising since they've had months to negotiate. But only two 1st round picks have signed as I write this, so few teams have shown much urgency.
We're getting closer to watching some Packer football. The first preseason game will be televised by NFL Network on August 16th, and the Packers family night scrimmage (played on August 7th) will be televised by NFL Network on Monday, August 9th.

I sure hope this guy pans out. For such a high draft pick, I am expecting alot. Maybe not this season, but he should help out. God help us if he flops…

It's not like the Packers need him to start right away...
Bulaga will not be Robert Gallery, who was pushed shoved tossed into a starting role his rookie season by Al Davis…

No, not right away, but
what are the odds of Clifton staying healthy enough to start 16 games this season?
It has happened only four times in his 10 years in the league, and those were all in a five-year span from 2003-2007.

The glass is more than half-full.
Gallery may have flopped at LT but he has turned into a very solid NFL Guard.

Camp hasn't even started and you sound like the sky is falling
I don’t think Bulaga flopping at LT would be a sign of the apocalypse. He may or may not be able to play LT at a high level in the NFL, this remains to be seen. It will not be known until next year at the earliest. If he doesn’t work out there he goes to RT. If that doesnt work he goes to Guard. He will be a starter for 10 years at some point. At what position? TBD.

Don't you think?!
That the Packers were very aware of Gallery and his failure as a LT? And that they scouted him to find out why he failed, so they could see if it applies to Bulaga? I certainly would and have to believe they did!!! None of us know why Gallery failed, but you can’t assume that just cuz Gallery did, that Bulaga will too… THe Packers did their homework on Bulaga, you can be sure of it!
I think Bulaga was just rated WAY too highly by draft "experts".
That being said, I’m very glad the Packers drafted him.

Some
I never really considered Bulaga a top 10 pick… I thought about 12-15 was about right. He was projected by SOME as high at top 5 or 6… I didn’t quite buy into that, but thought he would be a good player and was worthy of about 15th or a little higher.
Fortunately, he's a Packer.
Not a Viking. Imagine how THAT would have gone down…

I don't consider mid 20's a high draft pick.
Who's leg do I have to hump to get a drink around here?-Brian
not worried
I’m more interested in Neal newhouse and wilson. and i’m anxious to see lang get the starting job So glad we have Tauscher and so hopeful that Giasomini,Barbre and Dietrich -Smith disappear

why?
Brohm and Meredith took the PS train to buffalo and we’re stuck with Barbre Colledge.
It’s the Dietrich-Smith Barber College. Doesn’t that sound stupid to anyone else.

Lang is not even going to really challenge Tauscher for starting job this season. Missing the entire offseason cost him any chance he had of winning the RT job from Tauscher!
Lang
is better than colledge or Barbre and both have more experience.

hopefully they move him to LG this year.

Packers already decided this
He is a RT this season!!! The only way I see that changing is if Giacomini proves early in training camp that he is going to be the RT of the future… That would allow the Packers to move Lang to LG this season. Either way Lang is our best swing OT for now and that makes him a valuable backup, since you generally only dress 7 OL on game days.
Bryan Bulaga vs Speed Rush...
I think that alot of the speculation that he cant handle the speed rush very well stem’s from the game Iowa played against Michigan…He had just came back from the thyroid thing and was weaker than he was before and not as sharp…Same goes for the week after that, but when he played against Morgan Burnett and GT…He was man handling their best pass rusher…cant remember his name but he went before Bulaga did in the draft so……?
Derrick Morgan
Was the guys name…. Also Schofield had a good game against Bulaga, but that was the week right after Mich and he still wasn’t full strength.
Yeah, there’s no doubt Buluga got stronger as the season went on and he got completely healthy.
