Washington Post: What Motivates Brett Favre?

One last word on QB Brett Favre's latest retirement, until his ankle feels better in a few weeks and he returns yet again. My latest article on Washington Post.com:

When he (finally) decided to come back in 2009, after a long flirtation with the Vikings, he did so because he didn't want to let his daughter down. Does he want someone to put him on the spot and tell him to keep playing?

And as far his motivations go? Let's keep it clean folks. I'm not linking to Deadspin either.

There are no motivations...

Aside from making people want to claw their eyes out.

This will be my last post regarding Farve until the season starts.

My kingdom for a spellchecker. Or Devin Harris. Hopefully both.

Most definitely motivating! However, I cannot begin to discuss what it motivates me to do!

On the subject of Bertt

Take a look at the ‘Confessions of an NFL QB Drama Queen’ poster, in the comments beneath this post over at The Falcoholic.

retirement?

when did favre announce this? to my understanding their were “sources” that claimed he said he was going to retire. funny how espn and other outlets have come forward and announced who the sources were———this sounds more like “the doldrums of summer” story", nothing really going on sports wise, so lets stir the pot a little and see how many people they can hook.

by the looks of over 200 posts on a player that hasn’t dawned the green and gold for a couple years———some posters swallowed the bait all the way up to the bobber.
(not sarcasm———a tad condenscending—-perhaps)

It;'s true

Why else would the Vikings suddenly offer him another 7 MILLION dollars on top of his 13 million to come back this year??
Also there were a TON of stories about how the ankle DID NOT get any better post surgery than pre surgery.
Does this mean Brett will not change his mind?? No but the story is true.

what motivates brett favre?

i guess irritating the many bloggers on this web site would be #1 on his list.

Who on here gets “irritated” lol? Anytime anyone mentions anything even a tiny bit negative about Favre you instantly label them as “not over him”, “obsessed”, and now “irritated”. Maybe your the one who isn’t over Favre? Otherwise I’m not really sure why you always seem to jump to his defense (in a round about way).

don't know and don't care

with as many different motivations has he’s got, the list seems to change just like his retirement saga.

Did Visanthe Shianco

ever deny the text message? He was the one that received it from Favre, right?

i believe

he got a text from a friend, who got the text from another friend “allegedly”——-considering longwell talked to favre the night before and favre never told him anything to the contrary, the red flags should have went up———-that the story was totally fabricated by some bored reporters——imo, of course.

I don't think so...

Favre has a long history of doing things and denying them. I have full confidence that someone or multiple people got a text message. He may have been messing with them or something though but I am sure he sent it. Why would someone mention it to a reporter otherwise. I don’t see why a reporter would make up something that could be SO easily denied or proven wrong too. This isn’t Favre’s first rodeo…

I heard it was a text from Favre to Shianco

When Favre was asked about it by ESPN, he just scuffed and said he has to go. That’s all I really know though. Not that it really matters though, because if it didn’t come from Favre he or Visanthe should have said so when asked.

Haha so what, Shiancoe lied about seeing a text that Favre supposedly told someone he was going to retire? My question to you is, why in the hell would he do that? And my answer to that question is, he wouldn’t. I’m sure Favre opened his big mouth like he has before. Hell, even his agent went off on him a couple weeks ago to some magazine about not knowing how to just shut his mouth. It’s as if he doesn’t think before he does things. Or maybe he really is just as clueless as he acts…

I have a feeling...

That the moron’s Hall of Fame speech will be very similar to that of Michael Jordan, with the obvious exception that he isn’t even the best at his position, much less the greatest football player ever (that would be Jerry Rice). Anyway, I expect a self-centered, vitriolic (towards the Packers anyway), ultra dramatic speech given in that redneck, idiotic Southern accent.

I heard that she took the pictures to the DA to get Bert charged with indecent exposure but, after blowing up Bert’s picture as much as possible, the DA still had to throw the case out for insufficient evidence.
