OT: 2010 SB Nation Madden 11 Online Season for Xbox 360

Hey everybody, this is Fooch from Niners Nation. Given the popularity of EA's Madden football game, SB Nation is going to be hosting an online franchise using the Xbox 360 version of Madden NFL 11. The plan is to have one representative from each NFL blog taking over their respective team for the course of the 2010 Madden season. We'll play approximately one game a week, and generally keep up with the regular NFL season as it goes on. Each week, James Brady (Ninjames over at Niners Nation) will be typing up a report to send to each blog which they can use as they see fit with scores, storylines, injury reports and the like.

I'm speaking as to the Xbox 360 version of Madden NFL 11, but anybody interested in a PS3 league, and potentially hosting a PS3 league, also leave your information. James and I do not own PS3's so somebody else would need to host that league. We'll see how interest is across the blogs for that.

Given the fact that the season starts next week, we're not going to have time for internal tournaments to determine representatives. So, what I would like you to do is this: if you're interested in potentially taking part leave a comment indicating so, but then also include some explanation for why you should be chosen. This could be your Madden resume, a great story involving your experience with Madden, or anything really to show you have a commitment to this little venture. It's going to require a season-long commitment, but it should be a ton of fun. For now we'll be choosing a single representative from each site.

The league rules will be pretty basic. We're not going to try and get it to where injuries and the like are true to form. It will operate in an alternate reality, but injuries will indeed be on. The difficulty will most likely be "All Pro." There will be no fantasy draft or anything like that. Rather we'll go with rosters as they are set when they're updated in this coming week.

At this point, this is for network bragging rights. We'd like to get some prizes, but it remains to be seen if we'll be successful. In the meantime, we can get some trash talk going and maybe instill some healthy rivalries. Just respond to this fanpost and let us know your interest, your system of choice and any questions you might have.

Hmm

Does anybody else on APC ever play Madden on the 360? I do a fair amount, though I haven’t much lately because I’ve been busy moving into my new place. I’d probably be interested in representing the site, and I feel like I could do a pretty good job haha. Maybe if others want to to we could have some sort of a play in or something? Just a thought.

Fooch asked me about this a while ago, but I haven’t played Madden in so long that just thinking about it makes me feel really old. I’d love to have someone who is a big part of the community here get involved with the Madden league he’s putting together.

No kidding...

The entire concept of Madden and NCAA Football just did NOT take on the Wii at all. Both games were awful in terms of visual quality, accuracy, and gameplay.

Now, this is the same console that has the graphic wonders of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and they came up with THIS CRAP? Really? Unbelievable.

Can Abbrederis shoot the long three and effectively distribute the ball to his big men?

EXACTLY! Plus they tried to bring in this team play thing which failed in my book. Just keep the game the same, there are plenty of us out there with Wiis that appreciate the game as it is. I am OUT on Madden until I have something that isn’t a Wii. Nothing about the game is good…

I do like the way you throw the ball and the hitstick motion but it makes you look dumb when you are playing with friends on a different system! haha

Fortunately, you can still

play older versions of Madden on the Wii without missing a beat.

I like that. I’ve got one LONG running NCAA Football/Madden 05 series, joined at the hip. Considering how I have like 7 National Titles at Wisconsin and 3 Packer Super Bowls, it’s pretty sweet.

nice man! After a while the franchise thing gets stale cause 90% of the league is just made up people. That is one of the primary reasons I get the new one from time to time. But yeah, maybe I should go put out 5-10 bucks and get an old version. I have an xbox too and play my old madden on there sometimes too.
