Nick Collins Involved In Altercation With Bears Fan
As reported by FOX6 Sports, which apparently has video too. After the game, a Bears fan spit on Green Bay Packers FS Nick Collins and "used a racial epithet." Collins responded by either throwing a roll of tape, or maybe his mouthguard, at the classy fan.
Collins has apologized (though not specifically to that idiot) and I'm sure will face some penalty for his actions. Should the league do anything in response to a natural reaction to an abusive situation?

It depends on what the video shows
But if all he did was toss something lightweight at someone, it shouldn’t draw anything more than a fine.
If he engaged, yelled back, or made a move to physically go into the stands after the guy, he should receive a suspension of a game or two.

Ouch
Losing the game because of our undisciplined defense wasn’t enough? This is truly embarrassing for Nick and GB fans. On one hand, he’s a professional and should expect a certain amount of taunting in a hostile environment like Chicago. On the other hand, that fan was probably a grown man and knows what he is doing. Drunk or not, that’s deplorable to spit on another person and then further insult them verbally. I’m on Nick’s side (even though this doesn’t look good for him) for two reasons: One, any man would react that way once they were disrespected, and two, Bears fans need to get their behind kicked for rooting for anything Jay Cutler does.
If somebody spit on me...
…he’d have better counted his teeth first.
Collins owes no one an apology for that. If the league takes action against him, it sends a message to other such idiots that they can do what they please and let the player assume culpability.

Ideally
the bar for this has been set pretty low by the Brandon Jacobs ordeal.
Now, I’m in no way shape of form condoning Nick’s actions, and feel that this type of immaturity is the same problems we should on the field w/ our massive penalty total, but he should get a fine and no type of suspension.

Surprising low...
Someone could have been hurt, but Jacobs got off lightly. It’s almost like they care more about off the field incidents (involving the police and hence, bad press) than what happens on the field. I don’t even know, doesn’t make sense.
Unless he threw something that could hurt somebody
I would just fine him, and not a whole lot.
If he threw something heavy that could actually do some damage, that would be different.

No punishment
If some guy was shouting racial slurs at him after a game, then security should be doing a better job of identifying that person and giving him a life time ban from the stadium. Collins is off the hook in my book. These guys have emotions, something like this is bound to happen from time to time.
Stay classy, Bears fans.

he used racial epithets and spit at somebody? Probably should run for mayor of Chicago.
