Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

ESPN Article: "[Packers QB] Aaron [Rodgers] is the best QB and the receiving corps is the best ever, maybe," Favre said in the e-mail. "But [defensive coordinator] Dom [Capers] and the defense gets the MVP award at this stage."

And so it begins?

"Center Andrew Bogut was asked how the Bucks are fitting in their many new players so far. Chris Douglas-Roberts -- one of those new guys, not happy with his role -- chuckled in the next stall."

What a surprise!!!

Hold on. I’ll formulate my response via sign language.

What I find frustrating is that this crap is actually going to work. We all know it. Maybe not just yet, but in a few years, after the current lawsuits go away, most folks will just forgive, forget, and cheer their asses off when he shows up for a halftime show.

Not me. If I’m there that day I’m going to sit on my hands. More likely, I’ll just be in line for the can curing the ceremony thinking bad thoughts about the guy wearing the #4 jersey in front of me. I sort of wish I could forgive and forget. I’d probably be happier. But I’m not interested. As far as I’m concerned Favre can take his concilliatory gesture and text it…

Trust

It’s like the ex girlfriend thing, we say we will never give them the time of day but always fold.

Favre the ex-girlfriend

you dated since high school…she graduates and decides she needs to “find herself”…sleeps with a Jet & a Viking…then sits at home and realizes that all is left is a sore a$$ & an empty heart.

Favre loves the Green Bay Packers, he just doesnt love all of the executives…oh well. I will still sit reflecting on the good times when GB eventually retires his jersey but then that will be followed by a game with our current All Pro QB.

I saw Brittany Favre's twitter

(OK don’t get on me for that) And she was really effusive in her praise of the Packers ( She even said “go pack go”). She also said that they (the Favres) are still good friends with the Drivers.

And she also stuck up for Aaron Rodgers on “autograph-gate”!

I think this bad blood between Brett and the Packers doesn’t extend beyond his dislike of management. He knows a lot of the guys on the pack, he fought and bled with them. I don’t doubt his sincerity here…

He knows where home is — and it isn’t with the Putrid Purple. He’ll be back, and I for one will welcome him.

If I were in charge I'd put the #4 up in the offseason.

No ceremony, no nothing. Just let people notice it’s up there when they come through on tours. The press would pick it up, it would be a story for a day or so, and that’s it. And when they asked me if we’re inviting Brett back, I’d say he can put his name on the season ticket waiting list or get his seats from a scalper or a website just like the everyone else.

But whatever. Next year, or the year after, or whenever, I just hold my nose for a couple of days when the Favre-fest begins and then get back to forgetting about the whole thing.

Retire the jersey AFTER he goes into Canton

That way, we know he’s not going to play anymore.

Guess he needs the personal services contract dough..

I'm not sure he does...

… but why would they give him one now? The whole point of that offer was to get him to forego the chance to stick the Packers with a PR nightmare. He said no, the PR nightmare followed. Now it’s over. Favre doesn’t have any leverage left. If they offer him something to help out with marketing, they’re re-linking the team to sexting Grandpa with delusions of grandeur. Even if they needed help marketing the team (and they don’t), why would Favre help?

The only thing I can think of he might have to offer is if he did personal appearances in sky-boxes for new lease-holders and those pre-game autograph sessions for the Club Seat level ticket holders. I am aware that some of that goes on with former Packers now. If that happens I just hope the corporate types leave their young female relatives at home on the Sunday where Favre turns up. Assuming something like that happens, (and I’m sure it will at some point) it’s not going to be the 10 year, 20 million package they offered him before.

(BTW, it completely figures that the one and only time in my life, in all likelihood, that I found myself sitting in the club seats and able to attend one of those autograph sessions the guy they had there was Rich McGeorge. I mean, he seems like a great guy and he was a solid TE, but I’m not standing in line for 45 mintues to get a Rich McGeorge autograph. No offense intended to McGeorge whom I remember and enjoyed watching, but the cost-benefit analysis just doesn’t work out.)

haha..

I hear ya. The lines for those are usually so long. I did get Chewy’s though, which was cool in a weird way

I for one feel mixed emotions

because in my man cave slash Packer room I still have Favre memorabila. But like any bad relationship you remember only the good times.

I hold nothing against Favre

and in 2-3 years nobody else will either. Sorta like the 49ers with Joe Montana.

I dispense B.S. and facts. It is up to you to figure out which is which.

The only way the Pack should retire #4

Is if they retire the jersey, not the number.

And then change the uniform design the next effing day. Screw him!
