With news that the awards are to be announced this week I figured it would be fun for us to guess who might be winning these awards. My guesses after the jump.
Defensive Player of the Year: Clay Matthews: Green Bay. I know he is a popular pick around here to win, but he is popular around the league to win. With his 13.5 sacks and his disruptive play all year he gets the nod and wins.
Offensive POY: Phillip Rivers: San Diego: Many people feel that Tom Brady will win this but Rivers put up some major numbers. His team struggled but not because of him.
Offensive ROTY: Sam Bradford: St. Louis: Statistically the best year by a rookie QB. I think those stats and the fact they were 1 game away from the post season helps.
Comeback Player of the Year: Micheal Vick: Philadelphia: Vick had a year we have never seen from him before as a passer. He was given up for a has been after his prison stint before leading the Eagles to the postseason and winning the fan vote for the Pro Bowl.
Coach of the Year: Raheem Morris: Tampa Bay: I don't want to hear that they didn't make the playoffs. Morris lead a very young team that many people felt would be lucky to sniff .500 to a 10 win season.
MVP: Tom Brady: New England: Terrific Tom had another year that set him apart from others. 36 TDs, 4 INT. That stat alone says a lot but not all of it. Brady had a mid-season offense change and seemed to get better. His accuracy is top notch and that showed in many games this year. A record setting year gets capped with the MVP award.
That is my list. Open it up and see if you can get them right. Argue, agree, it doesn't matter, just keep it clean and nice people.
