On Crosby, Finley, Sitton, and The Return of Three Former Packers
Crosby named 'NFC Special Teams Player of the Week'. I'm a little surprised he won it because it didn't seem like K Mason Crosby was doing anything he doesn't normally do. He did connect on four FGs against the Falcons, and he hasn't missed any this season, which makes him one of nine kickers who are perfect this season on attempts.
Third jersey to be worn for Rams game. Remember to cheer for the team in blue against the Rams.
McCarthy fed up with WR talk - JSOnline. Maybe it's time for the beat writers to pick another topic. I don't have any complaints with how they've used their receivers this season. McCarthy might be calling substitutions and designing plays for them better than I expected.
Focus on Finley - The Playmaker | AllGreenBayPackers.Com. I'd expect him to grumble when he doesn't get the ball because it's his contract year. He's second on the team in targets and someone who's always being thrown the ball, and I'm sure all the teams looking for a dynamic receiver in 2012 will be interested in what he can bring to them.
Sitton Not "As Dominant" This Season | Cheesehead TV. Is he? I've seen him get beaten on a couple of inside rush moves this season. Pro Football Focus called them "interior supermen" for their play this season (until LG T.J. Lang gave up a couple sacks against the Falcons).
Green Bay Packers news | St. Louis Rams CB Al Harris expected to start Sunday against Green Bay Packers | Green Bay Press Gazette. I'll post something on the Rams pass defense later, but I thought their secondary was holding up pretty well until Turf Show Times strongly disagreed with me. CB Josh Gordy was in camp with the Packers before a poor finish to the preseason led to his release, and a month later he could be the Rams nickel CB on Sunday.
Packersnews.com | Green Bay Packers | Insiders Blog " Al Harris, Poppinga prepare to face Packers. Also, the return of LB Brady Poppinga. I've got no hard feelings, but I could never figure out what the Packers saw in him.

Poppinga
in the couple Rams games I saw, he played decently. And he was about as “decent” with the Pack, he was just out-played and McCarthy had better options.

I think a person that goes by CMIII ended his job as a Packer.

That 1st picture in the Al Harris article is classic!
Look at Holmgren in the background!
Al was like “No Hasselbeck, I want the ball and I’m going to score”

if the game is out of hand
say we’re up buy 30 points with 8 minutes to go and for some reason Rodgers (maybe Flynn) throws the ball and it’s picked by Al Harris, do you hear fans cheer?

Mike McCarthy was getting pissed in that interview
Of course I would too if the media was bringing up that wedge issue day in and day out about who is getting the ball. “It’s a buncha garbage”. Indeed.

Poppinga's days in GB.
Were basically over when the Packers hired Capers and installed the 34 D scheme. No matter how much they tried to sugar coat it, after that Poppinga was nothing more than a ST player. He just isn’t suited to play 34 OLB. He was adequate as a 43 SamLB, but completely miscast as a 34 OLB, no matter how much lip service the Packers paid it, he just didn’t have the skills to play 34 OLB!
You've been Stroh'd™!!!
Wasn’t he actually a DE in college for BYU? Kinda weird that he didn’t seem to have any pass rush ability at all.

He was a DE..
And a decent enough college pass rusher if I remember correctly. But he never showed that in his days w/ the Packers. And by the time Capers was hired, Poppinga hadn’t done any pass rushing for 4 or 5 years. He just never showed enough pass rush even before Capers arrived.

I rather liked this bit from Poppinga
Poppinga still owns a house near Lambeau Field. He has been unable to sell it.
“People looking for a house in Green Bay, I’ve got one for you,” Poppinga said. “A four-bedroom brick house on a nice golf course. It’s a great deal, it’s a great buy.”
