Pre-Game Injury Report: Green Bay Packers at Vikings

GREEN BAY, WI - OCTOBER 16: Sam Shields #37 of the Green Bay Packers leaves the field with an injury after intercepting a pass in the end zone in the second half against the St. Louis Rams at Lambeau Field on October 16, 2011 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Green Bay Packers have an unusual injury report. Two players are listed with non-injury related absences (Newhouse and Dominguez). It's not a big deal, they each had a personal matter to attend to, and they should both be available to play on Sunday.

Clifton remains out indefinitely as he recovers from his severe hamstring injury. Neal is out (as usual), but some signs of hope exist. Zombo is also out again, but this time it's not due to his broken shoulder blade (which is healed) but the hyperextended knee he suffered during his brief return against the Rams.

Everyone else should play, except I'm not optimistic about either Pickett or Shields, who have both suffered concussions recently. Pickett was concussed during practice on Thursday, while it happened to Shields when he was returning an interception against the Rams. For some, concussions have little lasting effect. But for others, such as the weeks of concussion like symptoms suffered by DE Lawrence Guy, it can take longer to recover. If neither of them were cleared by Friday, I'm not expecting either of them will play this Sunday.

If he can't go, the big loss would be Shields. While the Vikings aren't a major passing threat, his replacement would be Jarrett Bush, who can make any wide receiver look good.

The Vikings have some issues in the secondary too. S Jamarca Sanford is doubtful, and so too is CB Antoine Winfield. They can survive without either player, but obviously they have a better shot of stopping Aaron Rodgers with them. C John Sullivan is also doubtful to play, and while he's not a dominant player, their offensive line could use all the help it can get.

The complete injury report, from Packers.com, is after the jump.

Just want to point out

that with Zombo and Lattimore out, you-know-who is likely to be active, and maybe even get a play or two from scrimmage.

Vikings starting Corner Chris Cook

was arrested yesterday for domestic violence. Might not be an injury but he could be watching the game from the slammer.

here's hoping

that So’oto doesn’t have me sounding like a jerk for campaigning for him for the last couple of weeks (i know he’ll do if he gets the chance though). and also (don’t everyone jump on me at one time), i know that it’s a favorite pastime by many in here to jump up and down on jarrett bush. i know that i’ve screamed at him through the tv myself in the past. but has the man really been playing all that bad here lately to constantly get the stinkeye? he’s been giving consistent play on special teams, and when he gets his moments in the games on defense, he’s made some plays.

Yeah he is great on ST, and he has been playing a little better on D, but his mess ups still far outnumber the plays he makes on defense. From what i have seen from Bush is that he is decent in zone coverage, but when it comes to man, he gets totally lost, and can’t locate the ball on time.
As long as Capers keeps him in the inside playing zone we should be fine, but if the ask him to play man, then god help him.
