Fantasy Football: Green Bay Packers On The Bye

Fantasy football owners of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers are probably resigned to a rough week, or maybe even a loss. If you're like me, you've got some (or maybe many) Packers on your team. One of my teams has Jennings, Nelson, Crosby, and the defense, so I had to make four roster moves just to field a team.

Obviously if a player like RB DeMarco Murray is somehow available in your league (to replace LaGarrette Blount, I chose Earnest Graham over Murray last week, and I obviously chose wrong), he should be picked up ASAP. However in my leagues, I'm picking over players who are likely available anywhere.

WR Malcom Floyd. It hasn't been a great year for the San Diego offense, but he's averaging over 20 yards/reception. One long touchdown reception would make his start worth it.

WR Lance Moore. He hasn't had much of a year either, but he's got a great matchup next Sunday against the Rams.

TE Heath Miller. Not one of the sexier tight ends of the year, but he's got a great matchup against the Patriots. They have trouble covering tight ends, and with one of the lesser pass rushes in the league, Miller shouldn't be asked to block the entire game.

RB Knowshon Moreno. He's done nothing this season, but Willis McGahee is out and I'm hoping Tebow throws a lot of dump off passes to his running backs.

Which waiver pickup would you take a chance on this bye week?

If you're a Jermichael Finley owner

like me, you want to find a player who has a similar skill set: Tennessee’s Jared Cook. Cook had a slow start, but has a good matchup this week and some momentum from the last few games. Matt Hasselbeck likes him, and he’ll at least give you the 4-6 points that the disappointing (in fantasy football at least) Finley would.

Trying to decide between Cook and Gresham.

I've been high on Cook all year

even though he’s made me look stupid until last week. Gresham’s not bad, I say Cook, with no real authority whatsoever

Well, he does seem to get targeted a decent amount by Hasselback. And the Colts obviously are about as weak an opponent one could hope for.

Another TE I’ve started to consider is Fred Davis, now that Cooley is out. Only, he seemed to be Grossman’s safety valve. Who knows if he’ll be Beck’s?

I think I’m leaning Cook.

Davis could be a great pick-up. He’s a pretty darn good player.

Actually, all three of these guys are young studs that could break out at any time.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

I just picked him up!

Last nite… He is about the 7th highest scoring TE in fantasy right now. I have no idea who released him, but don’t think it was very smart. A new QB’s best friend is his TE. Beck at QB should mean more action for Davis. He started hot and maybe lately he hasn’t been as active, but w/ Cooley out and Moss slowed he will get alot of looks.

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

Davis is a very nice option at TE.

He started out hot (5 rec for 105 yds, 6 rec for 86 yds w/ a TD) before a couple of so-so games (1 rec for 23 yds, 4 rec, 34 yds). His totals from the last two weeks…

vs PHI: 6 rec, 95 yards
at CAR: 6 rec, 80 yards, TD.

I don’t think the 2-good, 2-meh games pattern will continue now with Cooley out, but we’ll have to see (considering the Redskins’ options at QB).

I'm stacked at WR

So I took a chance by dropping the Manning-less Reggie Wayne for DeMarco Murray.

Bernard Scott is worth a look with Benson out. Another Bengal, Gresham, could be a good filler for a Finley owner.

Steve Breaston is another guy I’d take a good look at. Bowe draws a lot of attention, and with Charles out Cassel has to throw to someone. . .

Scott

I thought about him. But Seattle can stop the run and I wasn’t sure if he’d share carries with Brian Leonard. Plus I know so little about the Bengals I wasn’t even sure who he was.

I chose Maurice Morris over DeMarco Murray on one of my teams
I chose Earnest Graham over Murray last week, and I obviously chose wrong

I just figured Best might be off for extended time and Mo Mo always makes the best of his opportunities (until this last week, I think he averaged 100 yards per game when he subbed in for injured players). Didn’t start him though. Went with Steve Jax and Jackie Battle. eh… s’alright…

Still won that week though. Beat the guy with the perfect record who had some five or six Packers in his lineup, so he gets to go into his hell week on a loss. =)

They're saying there's a chance that Andre may come back this week (again).

Just in time, especially with Harvin, McGahee, Ingram, Daniel Thomas, and Graham being added to my injury list. At least Rivers has been healthy all year! Ugh.

I already told you! I deal with the god damn receivers so the linebackers don’t have to! I have coverage skills; I’m good at covering people! Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?!

I just picked up Morris to cover for Starks, since Best is likely out again.

unfortnately

Heyward-Bey is also on a bye so i had to drop him myself

I picked up Greg Little two weeks ago to cover for Jennings this week.

I don’t like the matchup in SF, but he gets a butt load of looks.

Thank you for the win DET D/ST. Or should I thank Tebow?
