Green Bay Packers: How the Road to Perfection Escaped Its Biggest Trap Game

With Sunday's victory over the always game Tampa Bay Buccaneers feeling more like an escape, the 10-0 Green Bay Packers can now breathe easy. Looking at their upcoming opponents, and more importantly their schedule, the Packers have a clear path to not only the No. 1 NFC seed, but also perfection.

By no means am I saying that the road is easy, especially with five of their last six games coming against teams currently in a playoff position, but rather than they cannot not make any excuses if they do lose.

Sunday's matchup was the perfect recipe for a trap game: facing a desperate team, a team they have struggled against before, on a short week, between division rivals and between short weeks.

Their survival was hard-fought and important in the pursuit of home-field throughout the playoffs with the 9-1 Niners facing a cupcake schedule over the final six weeks.

Some fans will look at this week's Thanksgiving matchup and worry because of the short week, the significance of the game of the Lions and the strengths of Detroit seemingly matching up well with the Packers weaknesses.

However there is one thing they are overlooking: The Lions haven't been that good this season.  Look at their season so far, all their wins are full of holes and their losses have showed they can't compete with the upper echelon teams yet.

Finally their lack of a secondary has yet to be exposed against an elite offense and will have a tough time preparing in just three days time.

Following the Thanksgiving showdown, they play a Giants team who will be up against several disadvantages. NY will be playing a Packers team with three extra days to prepare with New York playing on a short week.  Also, the Giants have also been in the middle of the pack defensively despite their league-leading pass-rush.

Week 14 and 15 presents back-to-back AFC matchups, a home matchup against the Oakland Raiders before traveling to Kansas City. Despite their recent success, the Raiders will have a tough time succeeding in a shootout type game in Lambeau Field.

Week 15 at Arrowhead may appear to be a trap game, but I just don't see anyway the Chiefs can score enough points to win even though their secondary can maybe slowdown Green Bay's offense.

Christmas night in Lambeau Field may seem like the first game season when the Packers have nothing to play for. The only problem is there is no way the Packers lay down against the Bears after Chicago battled Green Bay Week 17 of last year.

With the news that Bears QB Jay Cutler may miss the rest of the season means their chances of winning diminish greatly. The regular season and home finale is a very winnable game against a desperate Lions team that will most likely be battling for a playoff spot.

The undefeated Green Bay Packers are facing a winnable remaining schedule in which they will continue to be pushed for the NFC's No. 1 seed. Any losses along the way cannot be explained with excuses because the road is void of trap games.

After going 10-0 without playing their best game yet, Packers fans can be very hopeful that the best is yet to come.
