Fantasy Football Week 16: Don't Give Up On Jermichael Finley

CHICAGO, IL - SEPTEMBER 25: Jermichael Finley #88 of the Green Bay Packers catches a touchdown pass in front of Craig Steltz #20 of the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on September 25, 2011 in Chicago, Illinois. The Packers defeated the Bears 27-17. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

It's been a disappointing season for fantasy owners of Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley. He's been inconsistent all season, and after going without a catch two weeks ago against the Raiders, he had more drops than receptions against the Chiefs. With a possible fantasy football championship on the line, it's hard to stick with him if you have another solid TE on your roster. But he's a high-risk, high-reward, play this week.

He had three TD receptions against the Bears back in September. His ability to work the deep middle could cause a match-up nightmare against a cover-2 scheme. He's as big as the linebackers and at least as fast as the safeties. Plus, LB Lance Briggs might not be able to play, and starting S Chris Conte is out for the season. If Finley can correct the issues with drops (I know, it's a big issue), then he could easily lead the passing attack on Sunday for the Packers.

Wiedmann vs uofmike
uofmike team:
Tony Romo
Calvin Johnson
Steve Smith
Mike Wallace
Beanie Wells
Kevin Smith
Nick Novak
Philadelphia Defense
Wiedmann Team:
Cam Newton
Brandon Marshall
Steve Breaston
Nate Burleson
Marshawn Lynch
Donald Brown [4.8 points last night]
Jermichael Finley
John Kasay
Tennessee Defense

uofmike has Ahmad Bradshaw/James Starks on bench; Interesting to see if he benched Beanie Wells [questionable] for one of them.
Wiedmann has Darius Heyward-Bey, Sebastian Janikowski, and the New York Jet defense on his bench.

Good luck, both of you, I predict a 100.34 tie, with uofmike winning because his bench scores more overall points.

13-1
Thanks, Chiefs, thanks a lot.

Fucking Donald Brown

I got so fucked on that being a Thursday game.

It should be noted that I drafted Matt Forte & Darren McFadden as my 2 primary RBs, but both have missed the fantasy playoffs (and quite frankly were millstones, occupying roster spots with no reward at the end; that goes for you, too, Andre Johnson).

13.

Talk me out of a crazy move…

Do I bench Aaron Rodgers this week for Tebow (and his matchup with the hapless Bills)? I am terrified that Rodgers only plays like half a game or something and Tebow has a nice juicy matchup.

theoretically,

a half of rodgers should score more than a full game of tebow, right?

I'm contemplating whether to start Tebow, as well.

I have Rivers as my starter, and he’s thrown for 7 TDs compared to 0 INTs this month. But Tebowmania…

Tebow Rodgers

I don’t think you can go wrong this week. I’d take Tebow, but that’s more cause I think its a safer pick. The bears D knows the Packers well and plays well against them. Rodgers may only play 3 quarters and if Grant/Kuhn go into vulture mode (yes, on this team any non-passing td is considered vultching) then I doubt Rodgers get more than 17 points, which is still respectable

However, if you start Tebow and lose because of it, how will you feel with yourself? Probably a lot worse than if you started Rodgers and lost because of it

Ugh...

I have a team on ESPN FF with Rodgers and Finley in the finals. I already know I’ll have to replace them next week, but my main concern is this week.

I’m gonna roll with ’em! Let the chips fall where they may!
