On Walden's Illness, Resting Players, Ryan Pickett and Jermichael Finley
Walden's linebacker spot may be up for grabs - JSOnline. Green Bay Packers LB Erik Walden doesn't want to use it as an excuse, but he had a nasty stomach virus on Saturday and he couldn't eat until shortly before game time on Sunday. If he won't, then I'll use it as an excuse for his lousy game against the Bears. I feel sure he'll play better next week and into the playoffs.
Green Bay Packers news | Notebook: McCarthy mum to players on Sunday game plan | Green Bay Press Gazette. No word yet. I wouldn't be surprised if this remains a secret until game time.
Green Bay Packers news | Pickett eager to shore up run defense | Green Bay Press Gazette. I don't think Ryan Pickett alone can solve all their problems on run defense, but having him return healthy (plus seeing NT Howard Green get over the foot injury that limited him last week) would certainly help. It will also help for Desmond Bishop to shake off some of the rust accumulated after missing four games.
Finley sits out practice, and McCarthy seems a bit miffed - JSOnline. Jermichael Finley said his legs needed the rest, but I think McCarthy wanted more warning time. It appeared to have messed up his practice schedule.

mccarthy should be miffed at finley.
he hasn’t had the kind of season that would entitle him to act like a diva. tell coach sooner.
What do you have against the ring-tailed lemur?
Finley's immaturity..
make be a consideration in contract talks..

Bit off-topic...
But his so-so season (numbers-wise) has made him more affordable. I’m definitely not complaining…
ya..
kind of hard to justify being the top paid tight end if you don’t perform like one..

And so is Patrick Kane and nobody in Chicago is giving him up.
Some people mature later than others, but in Finley’s case this is just practice, not a game, practice, not a game, not a game, practice …. practice, I mean practice? practice, not a game ….
He’ll develop over time and become everything we envision he’ll become. It will just take time. I just remember being frustrated with Antonio Freeman years back. This could become the same scenario.
Proud fan of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and the 2010 Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.

Finley's still definitely worth a TE franchise tag
They really aren’t that expensive given his production.

Franchise
A one year franchise would be doable. Finley has the tools. A one year franchise could provide incentive for him to play like he is in a contract year. None of his back-ups have those same tools and Quarless could be damaged goods.
What happened with Cobb?
Why is he “iffy?” I didn’t think he was even nursing an injury…
