Third Quarter Open Thread: Packers at Giants
The Giants got some big plays to score 17 points (two long passes and they grabbed an INT from Aaron Rodgers). But Rodgers has thrown two touchdown passes. Clay Matthews returned an INT for a touchdown and forced a fumble with under a minute left in the half. That was a bizarre play because none of the players realized it was a live ball, but luckily B.J. Raji picked it up. There wasn't much time left, but it set up a field goal drive that went wide.
The Packers start with the ball. Packers 21, Giants 17.

We're outscoring opponents by, like, 400 on the season in the 3rd quarter.

Maybe
but they’re playing with a lot more fire today than they have the last few games. They just straight up shit the bed against the Saints and want to show other teams that they can hang. That’s just what it seems like to me though. I have been wrong before

they are, in my opinion.
they’re playing a lot better than I expected. If they play like this the rest of the season I wouldn’t be surprised to see them run the table the rest of the year after today and win the East

at least this time we won’t have to listen to people complain about the Packers getting all the calls. Unless those people are even more delusional than I thought

Tuck Rule was the right call though...
and that was back when the Pats were a nobody team
football does not build character, it reveals character.
Okay, here's the thing
Look at the way the rule is written. Clearly what this rule was trying to prevent was pump-fakes that came out of the hand during the forward motion. Continuing with what Brady did, does that mean a fumble can never be forced once a QB has pump-faked? The call was not in the spirit of the rule. Maybe you can make a technical argument & show that it was within the rules, but you can’t tell me when you saw that you thought it was anything but a fumble.

Before the season, people disagreed with me when I said Aikman seems biased against the Packers
All year long this year, every time a call goes the Packers way, Aikman ALWAYS takes the side of the other team. Starting with his ridiculous bullshit during the Bears fake punt return where he proclaimed there was no holding, while the replay showed the holding right on the screen.

Yeah Jack Buck was a phenomenal play by play
He and Vin Scully are universally (and correctly) known as the best two ever with only minimal argument for Al Micheals. Jack had many famous world series/NLCS calls like “I don’t believe what I just saw”, “Go Crazy Folks, Go Crazy”, and the original “We will see you tomorrow night” and also called many football games including the ice bowl, where he famously turned a cup of coffee upside down and nothing came out because it was frozen solid

As a St. Louisan who grew up listening to Jack
I can assure you he’s from St. Louis. Also he’s purpousely unbiased always and very good but he gets excited and anytime anyone ever says something that doesn’t favor your team it’s going to seem like they are biased against you. The only biased announcers I hear are the local ones from places as they should be and that former Mets pitcher on TBS who hates every team from the old pre-90s NL East teams aside from the Mets
