Suh Is NFL Rookie Of The Year

DALLAS TX - FEBRUARY 03: Ndamukong Suh (C) #90 of the Detroit Lions speaks as Joe Haden (L) #23 of the Cleveland Browns and Mike Williams (R) #19 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look on during a press conference where Suh accepted Pepsi's 2010 NFL Rookie of the Year Award at the Super Bowl XLV media center on February 3 2011 in Dallas Texas. Lions DT Ndamukong Suh was named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. The fans voted weekly for the award, and those winners were used to determine the finalists. He beat out QB Sam Bradford, CB Joe Haden, and Buccaneers WR Mike Williams.

This is another one of those sponsor driven awards, and is separate from the AP award. It's the first time in the award's nine year history that it's been given to a defensive player. But the really cool thing for me was that they flew Suh, Haden and Williams in to Dallas for the ceremony. Bradford was in town yesterday, but was unable to attend the ceremony today.

Suh was asked about you beat the Green Bay Packers. He said the key was "being able to stop the run." On Rodgers he said "it's a two edged sword. He can throw and hurt you with his feet...we wanted to put as many this as we could do on him...speed his clock up."

The guy is a true talent.

Have to admire what he does. I don’t think as Packer fans (I speak for myself and my observations) dislike or show any animosity toward the Lions. We understand the pain Millen delivered to your city and would never wish that upon another franchise or fans (except the Vikings).

Not even the Bears?

But thanks, and most of us Lions fans feel the same about you guys. Nothing but respect and hope Green Bay beats Pittsburgh. Plus as you know Chuck Woodson is the man.

Ì'll echo that Woodson is the man

Growing up in the UP Michigan has been my team for 47 years. The Packers have had 2 Michigan players that have had a huge impact on Packer history the other being Desmond Howard. Hopefully Chuck can have a impact in the Super Bowl as great as Desmond had.

Congratulations on Suh he’s one hell of a player. He<s so good he will probably effect the Packers draft strategy. I feel we may beef up our center left guard situation. Good luck next year 14 games of the season.

I personally thought it should have been Mike Williams, but no issue with Suh winning at all. Both were extremely impressive this season.

I have no prob with Suh winning, he deserved it

But I thought Bradford deserved it more, longest rookie streak w/o a pick and taking a one win team to tied for the division and barely losing it the last day on the road(yes I know 7-9)
Also I think you’re missing a word or two in a couple of sentences in the last paragraph, it wasn’t super easy to read.

Good!

He really deserved to win it. I thought Bradford would get it basically because he’s a Qb. Not that he didn’t have a good season, cause he did. I just think Suh’s was more impressive.

So, what's the deal, here?

Do you have to be drafted in order to be considered?

Cause, I thought that Sam Shields was as deserving as any of ’em.

I would have liked to have seen Shields get at least some recognition.

He is a legit cornerback that, could be many teams number one CB, I have no problem with Suh getting the award.

Sheilds was great but not only not quite Bradford/Suh good

But also good in a much less noticeable fashion. Add that to a lack
Of headlines and media recognition and yeah, great season but no way in hell, unfortunately.
Of course, I’ll take Sheilds going to the SB over winning ROY. Hooray last laugh!

Suh is one scary mofo

That dude is going to wreck O-line’s and QB craniums for years to come. What a freakin talent. He’s a one man wrecking crew. Even when he pushes players (Cutler, it looks beastly). About time Detroit got some nice young talent on their roster.

Congrats Suh. Continue to do Nebraska proud.

Oh, and you guys should seriously check out this link, courtesy of Profiler who posted above.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

And go Shawn Watson and Barney Cotton! Seriously, leave Lincoln. Now.

Super Bowl here we come!

Looks like your man Shawn Watson got snubbed...

Could he be on his way out at Nebraska? And is that a good thing or a bad thing given the delicate mental status of Taylor Martinez?

Well Deserved and Well Regarded.

Suh’s presence gives the Lions something positive to build around. They’ve got a tough schedule next year and the playoffs might not be in the cards for them, but they’ll definitely be knocking on that door.

I’m telling you… the NFC North is going to be the league’s nightmare division next year. Not a single gimme in any matchup.

Let’s just hope there’s a season to speak of. =/
