PA's big list of revenge

I thought of this post just before the Super Bowl but dared not write it until now lest I jinx the good vibrations going the Packers' way.  But now that Vince is coming home it's time to reflect on the accomplishments of this past season.  I could talk about the supreme accomplishment of winning the Super Bowl, the many individual accomplishments of players such as Rodgers and Matthews, or even the noble struggle of overcoming a plethora of injuries.  But at my core I am a small, bitter, and petty person, so I decided to break out my big list of revenge and see how many scores the Packers settled this year.

There really are many crossed off my list after 2010, so join me as I reflect upon the demons we Packer fans can finally put to rest.

Star-divide

Let's start small....

1. Brett Favre.  He ripped out our hearts a few times...but none more than beating the Packers twice in 09.  Well in 2010 we beat him twice.  The rest I'll forgive since he's a legend and all that nonsense....so Brett we're square.

2.  Ben Roethlesburger and the Steelers.  I was in a sports bar on a couple double date to watch the Packer Steeler game last year.  We were the only Packers in the place and must of been loud because eventually some douche bag Viking fans started routing against the Packers.  My heart fell when Big Ben threw that last second TD.  That got him on the list.  Beating him in the SB makes us even though.

3.  Sean Payton.  Last year I cheered for the Saints, but also felt a bit embarrassed when we heard over and over that he really wanted to coach in Green Bay and got passed over so the Packers could hire MM.  I didn't want to hear all the boo bird who wanted MM fired say "If only we hired Payton!"  Now MM has won a SB within a year of Payton.  One more off the list.

Some bigger ones.....

4.  The Minnesota Vikings.  You know there is just something about this franchise that's weird to me.  It seems that ever since Wilf hired Childress there has been this odd Packer fetish that has infected the franchise.  They had to hire Childress right then to try and snag him from Green Bay (we'll keep MM thank you).  They signed Sharper and Longwell as fast as they could.  They signed Robert Ferguson, Michael Montgomery, and countless other rejects.  They tampered with Favre(I know unproven but I will believe it till the day I die) and signed him.  Well not only did we beat them twice this year, but the second time we beat the team so badly that Brad Childress had to be fired.  That makes us even for the odd fetish of these past few years, but the Vikings still are on the list because it feels so right to hate them so much....

5.  Mike Vick.  Did you know that for a long time Lambeau Field was the place where other teams' playoff hopes came to die?  That was until Vick came in and owned the place...well that and the Packers played like ass all day.  I've never forgiven Vick for that and had an unnatural amount of hate directed his way.  This year the Packers beat him in his house in the playoffs.  What really makes us even though was listening to him at the Pro Bowl talk about how this season was the first that he thought ended too soon and he couldn't get over it.  Let's be honest, there's nothing that will totally make up for giving the Packers their first playoff loss in Lambeau, but that level of disappointment is close enough for me to call us even.

6.  The Philadelphia Eagles.  4th and 26.  Need I say more?  Man, that play still burns deep.  In a year where it looks like we could make a deep run in the playoffs the Eagles make the impossible play and knock us out.  Building on that is the other fact that we hadn't won in Philadelphia since Lombardi was coach.  Yup, it was that long.  Well the Packers not only won once there, but twice...including a big win in the playoffs.  That win takes the Eagles off the list.

7.  The Atlanta Falcons.  You know as well as I do which team Mike Vick was on when he beat the Packers....it was the Falcons.  That win was so bad that both the Falcons and Vick needed comeuppance for it.  Well thankfully the Packers were able to put a beat down so bad on the Falcons and their Super Bowl dreams that the owner was still bitter about it during the Super Bowl.  That makes us even.

7.  The Chicago Bears.  Let me be clear...the Bears will never be off the list.  The Packers could go 14-2 and win the Super Bowl, but if those two loses are to the Bears then something is wrong.  Now that said we were able to settle a very old score with the Bears this year.  It's been many generations that Bear fans, at least those who are savvy enough to know their history ridiculously well, to rub it in that they beat us in our only playoff meeting.  Well, now we were able to not only settle that score, but also win the Halas trophy on Papa Bear's home turf, drink that champane and do the celebrations in his bear cave, and send his Bears into hibernation.  That may not make things even with the Bears, but it does feel damn good.

9.  Favreapologists and haters in general.  You know earlier this year I said the best revenge is living well.  I don't know about you, but these last few days I've been living very well....that is all.

Other notables still on the list....

John Elway and the Denver Broncos.

Ryan Longwell.

The Arizona Cardinals.

All Division Rivals. (normally I wouldn't include the Lions, but after giving Rodgers a concussion they can be on the list as much as the Bears and Vikings)

Ray Rice.  (for insulting Green Bay when we kicked his ass last year)

The New York Giants.  (sure we had a hand in knocking them out of the playoffs, but that doesn't quite make up for an NFC Championship loss in Lambeau)

The St. Louis Rams.  (need at least one playoff victory to make me forget the beat down they gave us when Brett thre 6 picks)

Did I miss anything else?

See? You should make a list

I’m sure that Viking fans could make a pretty interesting list of revenge right now.

He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named

I want revenge on all those mean Packers fans for sending me imaginary e-mails! And I want them to suffer for deceiving our head coach into thinking Farve was a QB of the future!

That sound about right?

Hmmmm.....

Perhaps. After hanging out at DN a bit I think they could come up a pretty robust hate list/revenge list. Actually I think it would be pretty cool to read.

Some guesses would be….
Goodell for the suspensions of the Williams
The refs…always the refs
The Saints D for the semi legal hits on Favre
Packer Trolls for ruining their boards
Anyone associated with the Hershel Walker trade

That’s a start for guesses….like I said I would love to read it.

by PackApologist on Feb 10, 2011 12:28 AM CST up reply actions

Not anymore

Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled against the Williamses and will not block a suspenion if the league were to issue one.

The Saints D for the semi legal hits on Favre

I will be eternally grateful to the 2009 Saints defense because of that. It was the second-most awesome thing I’ve seen (behind our Super Bowl XLV victory, of course).

Their list is much simpler...

1. Everyone except Vikings fans

For continuously conspiring against the Vikings and doing everything in their power to prevent the team from having any meaningful success in the NFL.

Don’t forget: Anyone that in any way, shape or form badmouths Favre. I never thought I’d see the day. They have taken on the “Favre Defense” like a Super Bowl depends on it (lol).

by PhoenicianPakFan on Feb 12, 2011 2:34 AM CST up reply actions

Childress for everything

Herschel trade make it for sure.
Gary Anderson for the one miss on a season…
Les Steckle
The HOF comitee for letting Chris Carter slide AGAIN.
Drew Pearson the Push off
Nate Wright for not killing Drew after the push off.
Brett Favre (before he came on over to the good side.)
The Cowboys period.
The Pack period.
The Giants for a 44 point debacle…
All teams that have won a super bowl.

That would the short list :D

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

I was talking with my friend about revenge this postseason

I said WC weekend was revenge against Vick for the Atl game in Lambeau. So was the Divisional. NFC Championship was revenge for the ’41 playoff game.

4th & 26 is not atoned for yet. It will take more than that.

The Bears aren’t in the clear yet, not by a long shot. We’re still, what, 8 games back in the series?

13.

by Wiedmann on Feb 9, 2011 1:56 AM CST reply actions

I think we need to beat the Eagles in a painful way to atone for that one. Sure we beat them twice this year but we also helped them discover what they had on their bench so its still out there as something we need to atone for NEXT year.

The Green Bay Packers...Putting bad coaches out of their misery since 2010

by TrevorR on Feb 9, 2011 9:56 AM CST up reply actions

You know I would count this year as painful

Unless you are looking for a total and complete blow out I think a last second interception that ends a promising season as evening out for the 4th and 26. I mean come on, if they complete that pass they win, and instead they just lose. And we win the Super Bowl.

Maybe that Super Bowl is just making me generous…..

Okay they can be on the list still.

The Media

I’d put that at #3, right behind Favre and the Favre Apologists. Rodgers can’t do this, Rodgers can’t do that. Rodgers can’t close out games. Rodgers is nothing but a stat freak. Rodgers will never win a playoff game, so he’ll never win a Superbowl. Rodgers is overrated. For a man that was at first rejected to a big university after high school, then slid down in the 2005 NFL Draft, then gained little support in his 3 years backing up Favre and his drama. Not to mention I believe it was Merrill Hodge of ESPN that said in the 06’ Draft that Rodgers was going to be a bust and Brian Brohm would be the future of the Packers. I rest my case. You know the rest. We all know that A-Rodg got the last laugh.

I would definately move the Favre Apologists to #2 though. They were Anti Rodgers-Ted Thompson- Mike McCarthy- and the Packers. They made you literally want to beat Favre. The insults were always coming, but the organization and Rodgers did the job quietly, until the end, they got the last laugh.

the Dallas Cowboys?

For all those playoff losses in the 90’s. Can we say that we’re even now? We ended their season this year, got their head coach fired, won our 4th Super Bowl in their new stadium and old man Aikman calls a majority of our games. To me, we’re getting closer. But I think we need to knock them out of the playoffs once or twice before we’ve really evened things up.

I forgot about the Cowboys. I think the beat down we gave them makes up for the regular season humiliations Jimmy J and company gave us back in the day, but I want playoff beat down like you to really make up for those eliminations they gave us in the 90’s.

I get that. What I'm saying is that I don't think the

Packers would have been able to go down there and beat them. I don’t know what the Packers all-time record in that building was, but I know #4 never won a game there.

by TarHeelHawk on Feb 11, 2011 10:48 AM CST up reply actions

I totally thought we could. Sure we had a little bad luck there but honestly we almost beat them that year with Favre getting hurt early in the game. Heck it was a 3 point game going into the fourth with basically a rookie QB behind center. In the game we had 9 penalties for 142 yards too including a HUGE one late in the game on a young Tramon covering a young Miles Austin before either was anyone.

But you are right, Favre never did end up winning there. Pretty shocking actually. That Cowboys team wasn’t THAT good though, they were quite beatable in my opinion.

That's a good team to put on the list! I don't feel we are even yet....

And that’s a great team to put on the list. It seemed every single year we had to go to Dallas to play and inevitably lose. The 90s in that regard still piss me off today. That 1997 game where Dallas FINALLY played at Green Bay and got annihilated is still a fond memory of mine, but we haven’t done enough to warrant revenge on going there….what was it, 6 straight years? Sometimes a few times being twice a year. I don’t remember, but the past couple seasons where Dallas came here have been really pleasant and I’m glad they are getting a taste of what our feelings were in the 90s.

Overall

Great list.

Cowboys for sure need to be on the list. Hate them and their fans. As we found out this week with all the ESPN polls, just as many hate the Cowboys as like them, no way they are America’s team.

I think we broke the spirit of the Eagles. With all the MVP talk for Vick they were believing they were going to kick our a$$. Since they lost they have fired a few coaches and are now rebuilding major pieces. They can have 4th and 26 since they still didn’t win the SB that year.

Of course the Bears are on the list, but they will NEVER get over the fact that we took the Halas trophy at Soldier Field and then brought Lombardi back home. Checkmate!

Vikings. Terrible. They should move to LA. Hate them the most and their entitled fans.

Well said.

And thanks for the list, PA. Great work. Love it.

The only thing I disagree with is Elway and Broncos. I’ve got nothing against them. They deserved that game. It was hard-fought, but they had a better plan, better execution, better focus. Everything. They just beat us, and they also showed Favre’s limitations beyond a doubt. He had the ball with time on the clock and couldn’t get it done.

But, to end on a happy note…

Taking the Halas trophy at Chi on the way to getting the (more prestigious) Lombardi trophy is an accomplishment that will be swee-eet for. Ever. Like Acme said, check… and mate.

Disagree

I would feel better about the Broncos if they hadn’t admitted to cheating the salary cap that year.

by Welzy on Feb 9, 2011 11:33 PM CST up reply actions

Bears and Vikings

The simple fact that we celebrated with the Halas Trophy at Soldier Field is enough to justify the Bears being up by 8 games. I could care less about the season series, because it’s the bigger games that matter. I’m sure Bears fans are quite bitter about what happened in the NFC Championship and will indeed put a target on our back. We have more titles then them, knocked them out of the playoffs in the NFC Championship, and above all else celebrated with the Halas Trophy at Soldier Field. I feel no sense of ill will towards the Bears right now. Instead, it’s just defending ourselves with the target on our back.

The Vikings on the other hand I still want revenge against. Of course this will now be 10 times easier with them being the celler dwellers for the next few years, and I hope to crush them in the process. Them taking Ryan Longwell, Darren Sharper, and Brett Favre all hurt. I suppose I’m just as mad at the players for going there too though. 2009 was tough for us though, and I don’t feel that the 2010 Season was enough to be content. It drove me nuts when those Viking trolls came here rubbing salt in our wounds all season long and all off season long. Nothing pleased me more than to see them suffer this season! Is it enough though? Absolutely not! Above all else, they have nothing to brag about. They have NOTHING! The Vikings are like little yipping dogs trying to play with the big dogs (Packers, Bears) in the NFC North. They want to be good, but never are. Kiss the rings Minnesota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boo-yah!

Amen.

I’ll be happy only when the Vikings organization is crushed so badly that the team finally has no choice but to pack it in and/or move somewhere.

It’s nothing really against Vikings fans, though. I feel bad for them, like watching a friend wrestle with drugs or something. They’re good people, but there’s this thing that wrecks them over and over again.

What they need is “tough love.” That’s why I was so happy this last season. Favre sucked and then couldn’t finish. Jackson is who we thought he was. AP’s coming back to earth a little bit as Hutchinson ages (remember: Shaun Alexander was MVP with Hutchinson and nobody without him). The roof collapses in a perfect metaphor for their whole season. And the Packers crush them twice on the way to another championship.

…face it, Vikings fans, it’s over. Stop trying to “fix” the problem and just let it go.

That's why Ryan Longwell gets his own catagory

There was just something about the way he left town that makes me want to just hate that guy. That says a lot since he’s a kicker and kickers generally don’t matter in the grand scheme of things as it is.

by PackApologist on Feb 9, 2011 3:59 PM CST up reply actions

I wonder if I'd ever be able to take the Vikings off the list

Maybe 4 or 5 years in the cellar will soften me up. And I agree about Ryan Longwell. I mean, c’mon – he has one of the best names for a kicker imaginable. But how do we get even? Do we have to win a low-scoring 9-6 type affair with Longwell missing that tying field goal? Maybe we need an electric kick returner to turn a couple of his kick-offs into TDs.

Division rivals never go off the list

Like I said about the Bears can apply to the Vikings too….they are never off the list. Some individual grievouses are gone sure, but I will always want to see the Packers beat those teams.

Lions have generally been ambivalent too, but now that they are competitive and injured Rodgers this year they have earned a spot on the list as well.

As for Longwell….he’s a kicker to short of blocking his kicks or seeing people spit on him on the street I guess this name will just have to remain on the list.

by PackApologist on Feb 9, 2011 5:07 PM CST up reply actions

I WANT to hate the Lions…..but I just still can’t find any real reason. I mean, they went 0-16 a couple years ago. I guess they could become competitive but until there is an emotional reason to hate them, then I’m just bleh on games against them.

by PhoenicianPakFan on Feb 12, 2011 2:47 AM CST up reply actions

I think the Lions are already competitive

We beat them by 2 at Lambeau & lost by 4 at Ford. They were way better than a 6-10 team this year.

I really don’t want to hate the Lions. I’ve kinda always liked them. When I was growing up, I admired a lot of their players: Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, even Wayne Fontes, the coach at the time.

What about the home game that we squeaked out a win?

Not to mention, in the game with our backup QB, they were on their 3rd string QB. Rodgers was in the game in the 1st half, and didn’t score a point. I got to see a few games of Stafford live when he was in college, and he looks like he could be a big-time QB if he could stay healthy (although that’s a big if).

Are the Lions as good as the Packers? No, don’t think so. Are they better than they have been recently? Yes, I do thinks so. The Lions have finally learned how to win some of the games when they get a chance. If they improve as much next season as they did this season they can cause problems.

What about the 2 point loss with that Super Bowl MVP guy?

I’m not saying the Lions are going to be winning the Super Bowl next year, but I do see them fighting for a Wild Card spot.

They lost 10 games for a reason.

Yeah, because Calvin Johnson set the ball down after he scored a TD against the Bears, and the official ruled it incomplete. and let’s not forget the other game against the Bears where Suh was flagged for pushing Cutler down when he was running downfield, which was pivotal. 3 point losses to the Eagles & the Jets; do not sleep on this team. They did all that (and if a few things go their way, they could have been 10-6) without their starting QB for 13 games.

Honestly I think a large issue we have as well is coaching

our coaching is sadly lacking. The only players that really shine for us are people that basically came out of college pro ready. We have yet to have many third rounder step up and play for us. without that you’re losing a large chunk of what is going to make your team viable. I believe that Childress didn’t really want to coach players up talent wise, he preffered to get talent then use it poorly :)

No one will ever convince me that Childress wasn’t a packer fan. Crap he even got Favre on his team…

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

Okay that does make me feel better

Maybe people don’t have to spit on him in the street to take him off the list…just a blocked kick will do.

by PackApologist on Feb 9, 2011 5:36 PM CST up reply actions

See I never really had anything against him. I don’t think the packers really gave him a solid deal so he went to a place where he could kick indoors and get lots of money for doing it. I guess its hard to blame him, he set himself up for LT success.

The reason why I hate Ryan Longwell

I wouldn’t of cared that he left for the reasons you mentioned. What I didn’t like was the fact that he basically ripped on the town as he left. He basically made jokes about the small town nature and how he and his family were tired of eating at Applebees.

No, but we do need to even that up sometime

It’s a 4 year project minimum, and I say let’s get that taken care of. Every year we go 1-1 against them is a year we’re not gaining on them, and God forbid we fall 2 games back in a year.

“They have NOTHING! The Vikings are like little yipping dogs trying to play with the big dogs (Packers, Bears) in the NFC North”
-————————

I have argued this exact point to many people over the years. They are like that yappy little dog in the cartoons that always wants to hang out with the big bulldog, and he always just pushes them aside. I am further annoyed by their whiny attitude (mostly Chrissy Gates) that has set up special rules to keep out the crap talking since we have gotten the better of them again. They love to talk when they are up, but as soon as they fall they get all hurt and whiny. It’s too bad because I like to go to their website for news on the Vikings and I respect the hell out of Ted Glover but its become unbearable. Every other post is an: “We are depressed so don’t come here and post” or “Other fans don’t belong here cause we are pansies” post.

Oh man

I was so angry those people that booed him at training camp, seriously, I don’t want them rooting for the team anymore, just go away. I had my fingers crossed about Rodgers though and after a few 3 TD games, they were uncrossed, wow, talk about a fairy tale ending. We could’ve had Favre this year and A-Rod might be somewhere else!

Most of the A-Rodg haters are Favre Apologists and moved onto Minnesota. Some, like Hermitcrab, appear here every now and then. Although since the Packers reached the playoffs, Crab hasn’t been around……Hmmmm……..I guess I just have a vendetta against people that booed Rodgers or wanted him to lose because of the fact that Favre was leaving. The fact that some of them want to come back here makes me even more mad. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Not one bit. I have nothing but contempt for those that treated Rodgers so badly. Very un-Packerlike and a complete embarrassment to the rest of us. I’m glad most of them moved to the Vikings and never came back.

by PhoenicianPakFan on Feb 12, 2011 2:51 AM CST up reply actions

I'm willing to cut some of those people some slack

That was a crazy summer and there was lots of mixed reactions going around. Once the Favre thing was done most of the fans rallied behind Rodgers so I’m willing to give amnesty for people who messed up in the summer of 08. Those who didn’t straighten out right away are a different matter…..

by PackApologist on Feb 9, 2011 5:09 PM CST up reply actions

more rings on Aaron's fingers

We’ve got the first dose of payback done. Now we need to get Rodgers a few more SB wins. Heck, even one more would double Favre’s collection.

Denver should be much higher on the list

I am absolutely amazed that the Broncos haven’t been tarred and feathered repeatedly every time anyone mentions CHEATING in the NFL. Instead, people think filming a practice is bad. Really? Does anyone remember that Denver got busted for that Super Bowl year (and the next) for cheating the salary cap? Did Bowlen’s friendship with Tagliabue bury it that far? Denver was fined a million dollars and a third round draft pick – for EACH of their Super Bowl winning years for cheating! Yes, that was the epitomy of cheating in the history of the NFL and you never hear about it. I still dust that tidbit off every time a Donkey fan gets snotty.

by Welzy on Feb 9, 2011 11:28 PM CST reply actions

Higher?

They are number one of unfinished business. Everything else is stuff that we were able to take care of this year. I don’t know how much higher they can go.

by PackApologist on Feb 9, 2011 11:43 PM CST up reply actions

I misinterpreted, apologies

I just like bringing up the “Cheatin’ Broncos” nugget, not enough people know about it.

Favre should really be at the top of your list, not the bottom. I guess that depends on how much you thought we needed revenge against him. There really isn’t another item on the list we needed to slap more (maybe the Vikings).

by Welzy on Feb 10, 2011 12:34 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah that's a tough one to evaluate

Really it’s going to come down to a personal call for each. I have him so low because, even though he tore my heart out twice (once pouting his way out of town and then again in purple) really the most unforgivable pieces were trying and successfully sticking it to the Pack in 09.

Well….the Pack repaid those games by sticking it to him twice this year. Not to mention that any question of the decision to move on has been conclusively answered by all but the most ardent Favre believers. These together with the fact that he is already trying to heal the old wounds, put him at the bottom of the list for me personally….but I respect and understand those who might have him higher up the list as well.

by PackApologist on Feb 10, 2011 12:51 AM CST up reply actions

Winning the Super Bowl without him repaid most of it for me

It really bothered me when he said the Vikings were the best team he had ever played on, and even more so that he said it during the season. So it was awesome that he threw away their shot at the Super Bowl. And then the Packers winning it before he retired, well you know what I mean, was just about as good as I could hope for. I think I’ve moved on from “I can’t stand that SOB” to not caring and hoping he just fades away.

by Zundar on Feb 10, 2011 2:35 PM CST up reply actions

That and telling Chicago to beat us in the last game. Then after that saying that we were the best team with ARod.

I can't really hate some of those teams

Philly-4th & 26 can NEVER be forgiven until we return it likewise.
Giants-I don’t hate them, it was the guy that handed the ball to them. What were they supposed to do, drop it?
Elway-unfortunately, we’ll never be able to close that one out. I hated JE and that stupid, chimpanzee smile. Waaaaay too much gums.
Vick-yeah, we got the revenge, especially when he said after the 1st game that maybe if he was in the whole game Philly would have won. What an egotesticle(sp. on purpose) ass.
Rams-here again, they didn’t THROW the 6 picks, just caught them.
Dallas-it’s gonna take a few more wins, in GB, to call that one even. Having them for lunch was sweet, tho. Bye, Wade!
Bares/Queens-goes without sayin’

Great List! One small addition: SF 49ers

My son and I talked about these things for weeks as the seasong moved to the playoffs. I have one small addition….The SF 49ers got a small bit of payback for snubbing AR and choosing Alex Smith as they got whipped by the Pack this year. However, they got a huge payback as they watched the Pack and AR win the SB!

by Hillwalker on Feb 11, 2011 10:04 AM CST reply actions

There is no revenge factor

for the Packers against the 49ers.
Maybe for Rodgers, personally, but the Forty-Whiners did the Pack a favor by selecting Smith.
Plus, we got Coach Mac from them. :)
We should be thanking them, not wishing for revenge against them.

That glass is flowing over!

THE BEARS STILL SUCK!

by NorthStarr on Feb 11, 2011 10:07 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah I mostly agree with this

My main thought of nonrevenge against the Niners comes from the fact that we basically owned them in the playoffs (and facing them) for most of the 90’s. There is only one game that really sticks out where they stole one away and that’s in the playoffs of 99, Holmgren’s last game with us.

Other than that you look at San Fran and we really just stole the best part of their legacy. We were one of the first teams to institute the 9er offense. We’ve taken two of their promising offensive coaches (Holmgren and McCarthy), and the whole Rodgers thing.

I holding nothing against them and wouldn’t blame them for holding something against us.

by PackApologist on Feb 11, 2011 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

I was thinking the same thing. The TO touchdown in the last seconds to win it. That was at the height of discontent over Holmgren leaving for Seattle too.

A Few Props though, too

This was a magical season and a few props to other teams may be in order: In week 15 Det beat Tampa and Phil beat the Giants to put the Packers in a favourable tie breaker spot in relation to those two teams in the case GB won their last two games (which they did). Also, props to the Jets for beating NE and eliminating them from the playoffs. I always like to see Brady and Belichick lose. Which does bring up another addition to the revenge list: NE beat the Pack in week 15 which forced them to win out just to reach the wild card spot.

Randy Moss - TT is vidicated

I know this has been discussed before, but TT’s decision not to bring in Randy Moss gets a big check mark of vidication this season as well. Congrats to Ted Thompson!

eh…they got MANY years of great play out of him in New England. I don’t see how this season really changes much.

by TrevorR on Feb 11, 2011 3:40 PM CST up reply actions

I believe that it has been documented

that Ted Thompson did not make a “decision not to bring in Randy Moss.”
Mr. Thompson did indeed try to reach a deal to aquire Moss, but lost out when Moss signed a one-year deal with the Patriots.
Then, when Moss was back on the market a year later, Thompson tried again to re-sign him, but he re-signed with New England, instead.
So, Mr. Thompson’s decision was actually to try to bring in Moss; he just was unsuccessful.

That's what I read

The Packers didn’t want to offer a 1 year deal, which is what Moss wanted.
