Mock Drafter Wanted

Hey guys. Mocking the Draft is looking to put on another Live Mock Draft and is looking for someone to represent the Packers. I personally can't do it, so I thought I'd post this here. Posters I have in mind would be Jabooty, BlackPack-fan, Yankees10, and Strohman, but if anyone else feels they would do a good job feel free. All the info is after the jump.

Star-divide

Alright guy's I'd like to get the 'live' mock draft up and going this weekend(april1-3). If we can get 25 teams with GM's by Thursday (I know I'm asking a lot) we will have this week, if not then we will move it till next weekend.

YOU WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED TO YOUR TEAM TILL YOU EMAIL ME YOUR DRAFT LIST

Rules:

  • Similar rules to all those before;  TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO DELIVER YOU PICKS  and don't use the headlines for anything else but making the picks.
  • Teams are allowed 3 non-player trades but need to be approved by me (just to make sure they're legit)
  • 5 Minute Clock (Clock will NOT restart if pick is traded.. so if you trade up BE READY NOW)
  • Email ME at byersfootball@gmail.com your Lists of 10 players you would be interested in at each draft pick. I won't put your name down until I get that list.
  • Right now I'm planning on a 5 round mock, with a "let's see how it goes attitude" to making it a 7 round mock.
  • Times: Friday 7pm EST- Rounds 1,2. Saturday 1pm EST 3,4,5. Sunday 1pm EST 6,7.

I'll be monitoring this mainly by myself. But with my schedule and being a "football nerd" it's not too rough on me.

I'll do the first 2 rounds but not interested in going beyond that.

I saw that at MTD this afternoon and was interested, but didn’t sign up cuz I don’t want to go beyond round 2. Up to you if you wanna use me for it, or if others can share the responsibility w/ me.

I'm in but only if....

you use the two homeless guys that live down the street from me as the first two picks for GB. I promised them the honor if they stopped asking me for change for a month.

And its not that I’m evil and don’t give the homeless change….its just that I never have any because coins are heavy enough to throw at the children that make noise around my apartment complex and I can make them cry and run home.

Houston was a great pick… Can’t believe he was still there at 32! Not a fan of Ballard. Not a bad pick at all tho. Who was available when you picked? Curious who you had to chose from.

IMO, Acho should go before Sheard

and New England traded 3 draft picks (the 60th overall pick and two of their 3rd round selections) in order to pick Brooks Reed at 44.

Cobb was a bad pick, IMO. Kansas City has bigger needs than WR (like interior OL, because Casey Wiegmann is OLD and Brian Waters won’t last forever)

My question was...

What players were available… Who were you choosing from? Not who had been picked.

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

by Strohman on Apr 2, 2011 2:49 AM CDT up reply actions

I was thinking receiver or cornerback.

Considering the Houston selection at 32, and the premier OL talent already off the board (Carimi, Costanzo, Solder, Sherrod, Ijalana, Watkins, Hudson AND Cannon), and a 2nd round run on receivers (Titus Young, Torrey Smith, Jonathan Baldwin, Leonard Hankerson), that left DE/DTs. And Austin, Ellis, Taylor, and Paea gone…Ballard was the pick.

Among those players I probably would have went w/

Davon House instead of Ballard. I think a DE similar to Ballard could have been had later. I’m a fan of House and think he has the size/speed numbers to excel in the NFL. Needs a little work but has great potential.

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

by Strohman on Apr 3, 2011 10:44 AM CDT up reply actions

I've made my pick, and I'll stand by it.

With Jenkins all but gone and Pickett to retire in a couple years, I’d like to pick a stud young DE/DT prospect, and Ballard fit the mold very nicely.

I was hoping most of the CB talent would still be there in the 3rd and 4th rounds, and I was able to swing Chekwa (a standout run defending CB) with a 4th round pick. Considering Chekwa had some pretty impressive workout numbers (4.38 40, the best 10 yard split for a corner at the combine with a 1.52) and is probably the best tackling CB in the draft…that was the guy I had zeroed in on in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Run defending CB?

I couild care little if hes a good run defender! As a CB he needs to be able cover people! And from what I’ve read he isn’t a good cover CB.

I’m not bashing your picks… Just think I would go another direction. Not a fan of Ballard. Sounds very much like a workout warrior. Didn’t make any plays even tho all the attention went to Clayborn… Not sturdy against the run and not much for a pass rusher either! Obviously you have a different opinion.

IMO, your entirely to Big 10 biased… Gotta look at all the players from all the teams, not focus on Big 10 so much. But thats your thing… Badger and Big 10 homer!

If I'm so Big Ten biased, or so Wisconsin biased

don’t you think I’d have passed on Boling and Houston in the first three rounds? Or Daniel Thomas in the 5th? Kendricks was a GREAT pick at the absolute end of the 4th, considering what we have behind Finley if he goes down.

Homer

Houston was a complete no-brainer. Kendricks was a great pick in your opinion.. I’ll take Quarless and Crabtree over Kendricks! Thomas was considered a 3rd round pick so THAT was a great pick, even it it wasn’t a need. You consistently over-rate Badgers and BIg 10 players. Just cuz you make a few picks that aren’t Big 10 guys doesn’t change it. Everyone else knows it too.

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

Kendricks

I’ll stand by the Kendricks pick. I mentioned in another thread that I was a bit baffled by this selection, but it does make sense in a way. You know TT will draft BPA in this round, and Kendricks is to my understanding a 3rd Round Prospect. Therefore, to get him at the very end of the 4th Round gives us good value. He’s considered a good run blocker (so I hear), which is what Crabtree is and Kendricks would be an upgrade over Crabtree in the passing game. He wouldn’t play much, but this was a BPA pick in my opinion. It’s not like he was drafted in the 3rd Round.

Fair enough...

I just see him as being a little small for a true TE role and I think he may have reached his max size. That will leave him smaller than what you like at TE. I remember reading that he has very good strength tho.

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

by Strohman on Apr 3, 2011 6:09 PM CDT up reply actions

From NFL

Needs to do a better job getting off blockers. May struggle to set the edge at the next level. Does not effectively counter as a pass rusher or have great closing speed and burst. Needs to develop his pass rushing moves. Effort is inconsistent. Could be a ’tweener from a physical size/speed standpoint.

Another site didn’t have him rated in the top 30 at DE or DT! Good explosiveness, but doesn’t know how to use it… Inconsistent effort and poor instincts!

Like his bloodlines but he’s clearly more of a 2nd round pick. Think I’ve seen him in one mock in the 1st. I would take Ijanala over Wisniewski for his potential to become a great player. I think Wisniewski will be a solid player, but not great.

Yeah, because Ijalana could become an elite LT — or at least is said to have the physical attributes that are required. Left Tackle’s are valued much more then Center’s and Guard’s, and Wisniewski doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of potential. I think he could be had in the middle of the 2nd round.

BTW- I wouldn’t have a problem taking him, I just would hope that we’d trade down to do so.

Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida
Muhammed Wilkerson, DE, Temple
Jonathon Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh
Adrian Clayborn, DE/DT, Iowa
Cameron Heyward, DE/DT, Ohio State
Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland
Corey Liuget, DE/DT, Illinois
Rodney Hudson, OG/C, Florida State

Stefen Wisniewski, OG/C, Penn State- I’d put him on the 2nd Round List, but at the top of the list. He’s basically a Mid 2nd Round Talent Prospect that could be available at the end of the 2nd.
Brooks Reed- He’s a guy that I like and I’d put at the bottom of the 1st Round List, but if you aren’t that high on him, don’t put him up.

They made R4F a mod?

Badgers Football: Big Ten Champs
Packers Football: SUPERBOWL CHAMPS!
Badgers Basketball: Sweet 16
What's next?
Milwaukee Brewers: World Series Champs?

God, I love sports in the state of Wisconsin right now. If only the college guys could turn the corner.
