Live MTD Mock Draft Sign Up

Mocking the draft is holding its annual 7 round, live draft where readers from each sbnation teams site get to be the GM of their respective team and participate in a live draft where you pick for your team. The Green Bay Packers are still lacking a representative for the draft and we would really appreciate it if one of you guys would sign up. It is a great experience in that it is not like most mock drafts where it is from one persons perspective. This is 32 people joining together to create the biggest and best mock draft there is. To sign up for the draft go to: http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2011/4/11/2104805/live-mtd-gm-mock-draft-sign-up

The draft will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The times are:

Friday: 7pm  EST (rounds 1 and 2)

Saturday: 1pm EST (rounds 3, 4, and 5)

Sunday: 1pm EST (round 6 and 7 plus UDFA)

Thanks for reading and hopefully one of you sign up.

I took the last one

and frankly, I’m not too confident about doing this one. If no one else from APC takes the Packers, I will; if someone does, though, I’ll be willing to help out in any way I can.

Heck, the last time this happened, I had a bit of a scare a couple days before the Community Draft.

I would do this one

But I have a Rugby tourney this weekend. Were in the sweet sixteen, and if we win both games this weekend we have a seat in the final 4.

Good luck from here as well...

always pulled for Florida’s “small” schools (anyone not Florida, Florida State, or Miami).

Thanks for all the support guys!

We smashed our first opponent, Bentley, 44-13 to make in to the elite 8. Middlebury knocked us out two years ago and did so again, 38-14.

Poor tackling and rucking, and a few bad breakdowns killed us.

I would love to do this.

but I think I’m going to have a lot of homework this weekend and couldn’t commit to doing the whole thing.

That's good to hear. lol

Just making sure that it wasn’t an awful Badger-homer pick.

Looks pretty good to me. Here's my input:

I would take Williams of the 1st round list. We don’t need a safety.

Definitely pass on Ryan Williams. I just don’t like him for this team, and I’m not in favor of a RB early at all. RBs fell in the last mock anyway IIRC. Target Vereen if he’s available 4 or later, along with Quizz, Helu, Green, etc.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Green Bay Packers: Super Bowl XLV Champions!!!!

Sounds good

Would like to get a RB later on a pass catcher type

Mostly the people on my list were just to get numbers. I will be there no matter what so it will be me making the picks. if the draft fell the way i would like it i would want

Huston/Reed
Ballard/Bailey
a Gaurd Tackle
a RB with first in 4th than a WR with second in 4th
a CB prospect
a QB Prospect
a NT prospect with first in 7th
a Oline Prospect with other 7th pick

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 7:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't get locked in to picking a certain position at certain spots.

These Live Mocks are pretty unpredictable. Houston if available, no questions. I’d wait on a RB until the 5th unless our guy is there. I’d go WR/DL/CB in any order, whichever has the greatest value at the time. QB? Not sure I’d go that way this year.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

by Omaha Sun on Apr 14, 2011 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I guess it goes that im assuming that FLYNN will be traded and the value of some smart winning QB’s in the 6th round will be high, A guy like Tolzien or McEllroy are both the same kind of guy that Flynn was. Also Not locked in on a single postion that would just be if everyone fell where i would want them. I plan to just take whoever makes the most since at them time. Going almost strictly BPA because thats what TT does.

I wouldn’t take him at 32. We were lucky enough to have both Houston and Sherrod fall to us last time. Hopefully that happens again.

Hmm I Really like Reed but i think houston and Sherrod are better prospects…. Thought about trading up to teens and getting Jordan the DE from California but i doubt TT would do it so I probably wont

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 7:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Not a fan of Reed

I don’t think he’ll be very good. On the other hand, I love Justin Houston. Keep in mind that some teams may be looking to trade back in to pick up a QB. You might be able to get a really good trade out of someone if they’re not there.

Trade Oppurtunity

There is a chance i could trade up to the chiefs spot our first third and fith for their first… Thoughts?
the trade value chart says they are giving us 730 and we are giving them 700… Idk though it would depend on if a real good guy fell into that area

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 10:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Hmm...

What are the terms?

Carimi/Houston might be worth trading up for.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Working on it but for right now its our first third and fith for their first…

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 10:06 PM CDT up reply actions

So its our 32nd, 96th and 163rd valued at 550, 112, and 26.4 total of 688.4
For their 21st valued at 730

Now i dont know if they will go for this i might have to drop our 163rd and add our 129th (47) which would change the value to 708.4 vs 730 either way i think we have a good deal but i dont want to jump up until the draft is happening so i dont jump up and the guys i want are gone

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 10:23 PM CDT up reply actions

His Counter Offers

Chiefs pick # 21, 140 – 767.5

1st and 2nd 5th rounder.

Packers picks 32, 96, 129. – 710

A little closer that would be your 1st 3rd and 4th

A second offer could be:

Chiefs picks 21, 117, 140 – 837.5

Packers picks: 32, 64 – 815

by Charles Heath on Apr 14, 2011 10:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Trade up

Only if a Top 15 guy falls to the 20’s… DOnt’ trade up for a guy supposed to go in the 20’s. I don’t thind trading up is going to be worth it to get Carimi or Houston. They are both supposed to go in the 20’s. Look for top15 talent at a need position if your going to trade up!

by Kuhl on Apr 14, 2011 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Probably repeating what i said above, but...

Please please no Reed in the 1st. Houston all day. And no Moch before 96.

I don’t know about moving up to get Smith. If he miraculously falls to 32, heck ya take him. But I don’t know if I’m comfortable enough with him at OLB to move up.

NT last DL option, and only if there’s no one else.

Probably go with Carimi over Sherrod.

Allen Bailey will likely make it to 64.

I would focus more on the Hunter-Rodgers-Vereen RBs over the Todman-Thomas guys. And we might be able to get a steal, so i’d suggest waiting on a back. We don’t need a starter who will carry the ball. Grigsby in the 7th.

What is surprising is that Reed got picked 11 Houston got picked 16 and wilkerson got picked 18… like killed my board. Than all the early 20 picks got all the oline other than solder… and solder was my least favorite OT so i went with Ayers… than everyone i tried to get in the 2nd round was gone… so yea i thought i did ok

I hope Solder falls to us in the real draft

He’s my 2nd fav T after Castonzo. He needs development, but we have the luxury of Clifton for (hopefully) a full year. He has probably the highest ceiling of any of the Ts in the draft.

by Charles Heath on Apr 15, 2011 11:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Height: 6-3. Weight: 231.
Combine 40 Time: 4.56.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.53.
Vertical: 40.5.
Broad: 10-9.
Hand: 9 1/8.

Little (6-3) was ruled ineligible for his senior season in a scandal that enveloped the program, but he’s not considered a bad guy at all. He played running back and receiver during his first two seasons, which makes him the type of physical run-after-catch guy the Packers usually like. As a junior, he caught 62 passes for 724 yards (11.7 average) and five touchdowns. He also returned kickoffs but averaged just 18.8 yards.

That is taken right from his scouting report… i thought good value for the spot, especially when no O lineman or D lineman fell to me.

no oline i liked i guess would be the correct wording

by Charles Heath on Apr 15, 2011 11:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Just got introduced.

To Little. Read the stuff on NFL and CBS about him. Like him more now… Toss up between him and Wisniewski. I like his ability to go up and make the acrobatic catch! Something none of our WR have. Having Finley on one side w/ Little on the other would be dangerous in the red zone! Good runner after the catch too, which is really important in our offense. He’s just they type of WR I’ve been wanting for the Pack! Bio’s said mid-rounds however, so might have been a slight reach, but his ability is undeniable. Just rough around the edges!

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

by Strohman on Apr 15, 2011 11:45 PM CDT up reply actions

his real issue was the suspension that all those UNC players had… if he had played he might have been a late first early second prospect so i think the value is good… and TT has taken talented but questionable people (quarless, finley)

Tennessee screwed themselves with a bad trade; in the MTD community mock I was part of, they gave away their top 10 pick to the Eagles and got very little out of the deal.

Surprised

You passed on OL help both picks! Would likely have gone Solder in the 1st and Wisniewski in the 2nd myself. Can’t complain w/ the players you took tho. For more info on Ayers here is my prospect analysis on him…

Not a fan of Solder – narrow base no strength gets caught leaning, plus Ayers is much better prospect i think… and it really was value of Wisniewski vs Little… I figured Little could be needed early this year while, we can get by on our current interior Oline without any help for a year or so

But i do plan on getting a Oline prospect soon maybe moffit at end of 3 or if a high guy falls to end of 4

Can't deny that about Solder...

Nor fault the reasoning! Like I said, I can live w/ the picks you made.

awesome… i figured it was the best that i could do with were the other guys went

Don't like Solder

I would have taken Wisniewski over little though. He just seems to raw, and it doesn’t look like he has a great burst.

Wisniewski lasted a VERY long time...

Through 5

Round 1 – Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA
Round 2 – Greg Little WR UNC
Round 3 – Brandon Burton CB UTAH
Round 4 – (moved up 8 spots) Jordan Todman RB UCONN
Round 4 (comp) – David Carter DE UCLA
Round 5 – Andrew Jackson OG Fresno State

Did you have to move up for Todman?

I assume you envision him as a 3rd down RB and KR/PR… But he wasn’t a 3rd down back in college and has only some experience at returns. Not a bad pick, but question the move up to get him. If he proves to be a good reciever, blocker and return man it was a good pick, but thats asking alot…

Carter, don’t know about him at all… Would have went w/ Lawrence Guy from ASU. Understand the position and round.

Yes i did have to jump up for Todman, at the combine everyone kept commenting on how good he was at catching the ball and how he did such a great job blocking. Carter is considered better than Guy… Although in the 5th round i was trying to jump the steelers and grab him but i couldnt he was taken one pick before i grabbed Jackson. I did like Guy but he is more a 5th round guy while Carter is considered a 4th round guy.

Mostly I’ve seen Guy rated ahead of Carter… These are sites I trust more than others, while you may prefer different ones.
