Redskins Interested In Cullen Jenkins

Via Pro Football Talk is an article from the Washington Post on the Washington Redskins interest in free agent DE Cullen Jenkins. Some franchises might be gun shy after turning a great player (DT Albert Haynesworth was outstanding his last two seasons in Tennessee) into one of the worst free agent signings of all time. But I doubt the Redskins will ever be a timid player in free agency.

Jenkins deserves a big payday for what he can do as a pass rusher. And the Redskins could use Jenkins as a DE in a 3-4 scheme who would provide an upgrade over ex-Packer DE Vonnie Holliday or former Rams 1st round bust DE Adam Carriker. They drafted Clemson DE Jarvis Jenkins in the second round, but he might be more of a run stopper than pass rusher. With Jarvis Jenkins starting at DE on the strong side, they could put Cullen Jenkins over the left tackle, which is the position he's played the last two seasons.

Of course the Redskins are

Is Snyder ever going to learn that overpaying guys who are either past their primes, injury prone, or head cases is not the right way to build a team. I like Jenkins and wish him the best wherever he goes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he busts.

Exactly. Its kind of an assumption that they’ll be interested.

bye bye

Hate to see a good guy like Jenkins go, just gotta remind myself that we can hang onto these guys or we can win another superbowl.. I’ll take superbowl over hanging on and overpaying..

As in the movie Casablanca..

I’m shocked, shocked to learn the Redskins are interested in Jenkins..

Wow.

I wish I would have posted this as a prediction last week when I said it to a buddy of mine. Wouldn’t sound so BS now that I say I KNEW IT!

With Haynesworth being such a complete bust for them, it was kind of an obvious choice that they’d want someone to beef up their defensive line and Cullen seems like he’d be a good fit for them, especially since they’re the most likely to want to spend the money.

I think everyone knew it.

The Redskins are interested in overpaying for every 30+ yr old player with injury issues.

Redskins are interested?

That’s worse than the Madden cover jinx.

Ithought Jenkins still had a few good years left, but if Snyder’s interested he must be toast. Or about to go bat-s*** crazy.

I guess he’s officially out of our price range now. It’s good to know, at least now we know the Pack will move on without him.

For Jenkins' sake I hope this doesn't happen

The Redskins are where players’ careers go to die. Jenkins deserves better than that?

Whoops, accidental question mark.

There's an old saying in . . .

Well, there’s a saying in Washington,

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice or sign with the Redskins, shame on . . . well, the saying is ’don’t sign with the Redskins’”
