Generally, when a team is coming off of a Super Bowl victory, they're not going to have a lot of camp battles for positions. The Green Bay Packers are no exception, as we will know who the starters are at almost every single position when the 2011 edition of training camp finally begins. However, there is one notable exception. At strong safety, the job is very much a toss-up, and it could be the one true camp battle that the Packers have for a starting job.
Burnett won the starting job as a rookie and will be the favorite to take the job once again, but after a knee injury shortened his rookie season, Peprah stepped into the starting lineup and performed well - obviously well enough to help the Packers to a Super Bowl victory.
Speaking to JSOnline, Peprah said that he's coming into camp with the view that he's the starter. While i think that Burnett will be handed the job if he performs well in camp and preseason, it's a great attitude for Peprah to have, and I'm glad he views himself as starter material. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone, and these two are likely to be competing all preseason long.
Who do you guys think is going to win the starting strong safety job? I'm assuming that the commentariat is going to be very much pro-Burnett, but I don't recall having discussed this issue before. Does the APC community have a strong Team Peprah contingent?
