Green Bay Packers Free Agency 2011: Rumors Linking James Jones To Vikings Move

James Jones and his future with the Green Bay Packers has been a serious point of contention on the site. All of the writers of the site have different opinions on Jones' future and how much he should be worth to the team, and it seems like the discourse can get even a little bit more extreme in the comments. That may be irrelevant soon, as Jones could be leaving for more than the Packers were ever going to be able to pay him. Very strong, legitimate sounding rumors are linking him to...the Minnesota Vikings.

Yep. The guys in purple. "The Dark Side," some might say. Regardless of your feelings on whether or not Jones is a guy that the Packers should be signing to a long-term deal, I don't think that anyone will be happy to see him playing in Minnesota. I won't begrudge him for leaving for big money because it's just business, but I sure as hell won't be cheering for him to do well. Tweets from legit sources after the jump.

Vikings are making a serious run at Packers free agent wide receiver James Jones as well. Comes as no surprise.less than a minute ago via txt Favorite Retweet Reply

Just talked to an @NFL source who said James Jones is "close" to signing with the VIkings, as @JuddZulgad already reported.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply

Judd Zulgad and Jason Wilde aren't some fly-by-night bloggers like yours truly. They actually know what they're talking about most of the time. The Vikings have already let Sidney Rice go and signed Devin Aromashodu, but they're expected to make some more changes, cutting Bernard Berrian and signing a free agent wide receiver as a replacement. Jones is the right kind of player, the right age, and the right price for the Vikings. This is, of course, very far from being official, but as far as rumors go this seems like a pretty legitimate one.
