It looks like another year has gone by, and the Green Bay Packers haven't signing an unrestricted free agent from another team. This is no big surprise, it's not their organizational philosophy and I wasn't expecting they would sign anybody either.
But with the market cooling off, I don't expect LB Manny Lawson (one-year, $3 million) or LB Stephen Tulloch (one-year, $3.25 million) were expecting those one-year deals, maybe the Packers are looking for a veteran bargain.
On the other hand, I don't expect they have much salary cap room left after they re-signed WR James Jones and FB John Kuhn.
The list of the Top 51 free agents from Pro Football Focus had already slimmed down to only 20 by Saturday, and it's even slimmer now. But one name that caught my eye was DE Shaun Ellis. There's room for him on the roster, unless you don't think he can beat out DE Jarius Wynn, and he should only be able to manage a one-year deal at this point. With DE Mike Neal coming back slowly from shoulder surgery, it wouldn't hurt for them to have more depth on the line. While I've expected he'll re-sign with the Jets, it's possible he'll only play as a backup, which might not give the Jets an advantage in negotiations.
I don't think the Packers need to sign Ellis, but he's someone who could help them with depth and in the rotation at defensive end.
