The Packers game did not air in Kansas City because of the Chiefs game, which they were playing on TWO CHANNELS (one of them being the channel that the Packer game was going to be on)! Here's why I'm angry.

I live in Kansas City. I wanted to see my first Packer game of the year. I was looking forward to it all day. After I turned the TV to channel 10 (Which was supposed to show the Packer game), I heard the Kansas City Chiefs announcer say: " For those of you wanting to see the Packers VS Colts game on channel 10, We were going to air the Green Bay Packers VS Indianapolis Colts game, but we figured this game was just too important for you to miss." Both teams (The Chiefs and Rams) decided to raise money for Joplin, MO (If you didn't know, the city of Joplin got hit by a tornado a couple of months ago, and it destroyed the entire city). Now, I understand that that was a terrible tragedy (And frankly, I'm kinda pissed that the government didn't do anything about it), but really. The game is already on one channel. Why do you need to air it on two goddamn channels to get a message across that has already been given to us by the Royals (They also had a fund-raising event to benefit Joplin when they played the Cardinals), so why does it need to be given with twice the force by the Chiefs? This may be my selfishness speaking, but I wanted to see my goddamn packers.

Ouch.

I praise the efforts of the Chiefs and Rams. That is pretty cool.

I guess the way I would remedy this (I would be a little pissed, but it is only preseason) is to just hop online and find it on the internet to watch.

Haha

I hear ya’. One channel would’ve been enough.

I live in frickin’ Iowa, and I’ve seen it where the Pack is the 3:00 game, and there’s NO football on at that time, and, to add insult to injury, there is ice skating on the channel that should have football. …Ice frickin’ skating! It just boils me with rage everytime. Like, “I understand that you people are from Iowa and don’t have anything to cheer for in life, but how about a little curtesy for the rest of us!” I mean… ice skating?? Really?

I just don't understand the NFL's TV deals

They’re trying to grow the game and reach as many people as possible, but they fail to reach so many people due to their odd TV network deal. Each week one network gets 2 games and the other gets 1. How is this better than showing more games? Is it really better to get a slightly larger rating for one game than to have two games with a higher total rating?

And if they really wanted to be less dumb and more clever, they could get a little creative. Sell AFC rights to one network, NFC rights to the other, and interleague games to a third network. Or maybe have it so networks bid for first choice of game, and second choice, and third choice, and then ABC gets the leftovers. I think it’s unlikely that selling money to speciality cable providers makes more money in the long run than making more games available to more people. This would allow fans of teams who don’t live in the area to watch more games, and maybe get friends into the NFL – particularly football fans who only follow college football, or who like the game but don’t have the passion. I, for one, became a Barcelona fan after watching games with a friend who is absolutely crazy/nutso for soccer.

NO POLITICS, DAMN IT.
And frankly, I’m kinda pissed that the government didn’t do anything about it

I could answer that, but I won’t. This is one place where I don’t want to read that BS. STFU.

ANYWAY… If catching a pre-season game was THAT important to you: NFL Channel – Get It, Live It, Be It. Quitcherbitchin.

What?

Look, I hate political discussions as much as the next guy, and I’m not sure what the government could do rectify this situation, but…

This author didn’t make some kind of political statement here. He used the word “government.” I mean… like my mom used to say, “don’t get your undies in a bundle here.”

Yes but if she's like my mom, she meant...
