Recap: Saints Take Control Of The Lions In The Fourth Quarter, 45-28

The Lions have lost, and the Saints will go on the road next week to play the 49ers. Meanwhile the Green Bay Packers will have to wait another day to see who they play next weekend.

The Lions fell apart so badly in the fourth quarter that I didn't remember that they were only down by 3 points (24-21) at the end of the third quarter. I expected a lot more fight from the Lions defense, and except for the fumbles they forced on two first half possessions, the Lions defense didn't stop the Saints at all. The Saints scored touchdowns on their first five possessions of the second half, and the Lions had no business winning a game in which their defense allowed over 600 yards of offense.

The Saints offense did look good, but the Lions didn't tackle well and completely blew the coverage on a couple of touchdowns. On the other side of the field, the Saints defense failed to put much pressure on Matthew Stafford or slow down Calvin Johnson. A win is a win, but the Saints don't look any more dangerous than they did during the regular season.

Now we wait to see if the Packers will be facing the Falcons or the Giants. If I have to choose, I'd rather it be the Falcons, but I expect the Packers will beat either of them next weekend.
