Kinda funny

Matthews ain’t looking to score. He has his eyes set on Manning. Scoring is the second option. Killing QBs is option one.

Inactives are

Graham Harrell – Now who holds the clipboard in the 4th when Flynn Time (suck it Tebow) takes over.
Davon House – Ok
Robert Francois – He had a pick against the Raiders. Remember? I do because it was my wall paper for a week.
Herb Taylor – Clifton is back. Bulaga is back. Taylor pretend your hurt son.
D.J. Williams – If your here, then which tight end has a mistake. Better not be you Finley.
Howard Green – See above posts
Vic So’oto – One day you will be healthy and hopefully the opposite side of Clay, destorying QBs.

Green and So'oto only surprises

Maybe D.J. Williams too, but he’s been inactive several times this season already.

Green’s slowed down lately, he hasn’t been as active in pursuit, and the Packers will probably be living in their nickel package anyway. Jacobs and Bradshaw can have 5 yards per carry, but no single coverage deep against Cruz.

Either So’oto or Zombo have been inactive in recent weeks. Someone has to draw the short straw, and So’oto is still a bit of a project [college DE] even after a full season.

by Brandon on Jan 15, 2012 2:35 PM CST up reply actions

Heck

So’oto played TE his first year at college. Still new to the defensive side of the ball, and he had to learn a new position this year with the lockout.

The NFL’s assignment of referee Bill Leavy and his officiating crew to tomorrow’s Giants-Packers NFC Divisional playoff game could be troubling for Big Blue, as Leavy and his friends have a tendency to throw an abundance of penalty flags.

I didn't make the New York Post write that story

Coach Tom Coughlin and his Giants were angered by a series of calls that went against them in their first meeting with the Packers on Dec. 4, including an illegal contact penalty on linebacker Jacquain Williams on a play defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Dave Tollefson combined to sack Rodgers on a critical third-and-10 at the Green…

They probably made that stuff up about Coughlin and the Giants being upset by bad calls

after all, all the calls were correct.

especially this one:

All you can really tell from that photo is that he has a knee. You can’t tell if it’s … um … touching the ground.

Anyway, the Giants can’t hope to win today. Good luck and congratulations

What? When did I say they didn't have a chance?

There’s a human element in these games, you can’t expect flawless games from refs as much as you can expect flawless games from the players. Championship worthy teams overcome penalties to win. It’s not like games haven’t been decided by calls in the past. One example:

I already told you! I deal with the god damn receivers so the linebackers don’t have to! I have coverage skills; I’m good at covering people! Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?!

by msc32887 on Jan 15, 2012 3:01 PM CST up reply actions

yeah and there were no bad calls that favoured the Giants

that penalty that JPP got away with on the field goal attempt at the end of the first half that cost the Packers three points? Nahhhh, that never happened, because it favoured the Giants and it would ruin your whining.

The illegal fair catch signal that went uncalled and gave the Giants an extra 30 yards of field position? never happened either right?

Or the mauling of the Packer receivers all game that was rarely called? Nahhhhhh that was just great coverage, because the Giants have such a good secondary that they can blanket the best receiving corps in the game right? Of course.

football does not build character, it reveals character.

how many times can I say you're right before you calm down?

when those refs weren’t calling a perfect game, they were swinging things in the Giants’ favor. Probably out of pity, since the Giants were so outclassed on the field.

Even if the call WAS wrong — and it wasn’t — that isn’t really a clear and conclusive photo above — it only cost the Giants 4 points. And they lost by 5. So, it’s a non-story.

Back to the Packers game

The weather looks as expected. Clear, low 20s, wind in the low teens. Shouldn’t be a big problem for either QB.

Giants fans already have something to complain about (the refs assigned to the game).

Philbin is on the sideline. I can’t imagine what he’s going through, but it helps the team by having the offensive coaches in their typical game time assignments.

No surprise inactives. Howard Green and So’oto might have been worthy actives. But neither one has done much this season anyway.

Really?

Woodson: Coach, did you see the Giants players over there? No sleeves!

McCarthy: …Mother of God.

Woodson: I know, right. Crazy mother fuckers. It’s like 23 degrees out here, 20 with wind.

(McCarthy nods in nervous agreement)

Woodson: What do we do, coach?

McCarthy: The only thing we can do, boys. Give this note of forfeiture to the ref. (under breath)…damn you, coughlin and your psychological trickery.
