AFC Championship Open Thread: Ravens at Patriots

I could see this going either way. The Ravens are more balanced (decent offense, awesome defense) than the Patriots (awesome offense, close your eyes bad defense). But the Patriots were pretty good at forcing turnovers. The Ravens need Joe Flacco to lead them on some scoring drives and avoid turnovers.

Ravens

I don’t think I can stand Brady winning another Super Bowl… Besides, Baltimore has Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, and I feel like they’ll retire if they win another Super Bowl. I don’t think Joe Flacco can outduel flippin’ Tom Brady though, and if the Ravens lose, they could very well be in the Matt Flynn sweepstakes…
Go Ravens!!!

Living in New England

I am rooting mightily for the Ravens. I really don’t need two weeks (well, one – I’ll be on the West Coast for the other) of Super Bowl hype every time I turn on the TV or go anywhere in public.

Ravens!

Don’t really care, yet, I hate Tom Brady! (Because he’s so good! : ) I really want the Ravens to win to prove that you need a defense to win championships!!

Speaking of Matt Flynn, since Coach Philbin was hired by the Dolphins, I see more people thinking we will tag & trade Matt Flynn. This is my biggest hope for the start of this off season! I don’t even care if we only get a 3rd round pick as long as we don’t let him just walk out the door after investing 4 years in developing this young man.

Would rather have a 1st & 3rd round picks though!

: ) Can’t help but get greedy can we. Human nature.

Does anybody have a link to our draft picks that we’ve accumulated this year?

Would love to have 2 1st & 2 3rds though.

We aren't getting 2 1sts and 2 3rds.

I think most people will be content with a 1st or 2nd round pick for Flynn. If we let him go, all we get is a 3rd round compensation pick. As for this year, we have all our original picks plus a possible 3rd/4th round compensation pick, a 4th/5th round compenation pick, and a 6th/7th compensation pick. Plus an undisclosed pick from the Jets for one of our rookie guards, which I imagine isn’t higher than a 6th rounder. So three or four extra picks, all in the mid-late rounds of the draft.

Same reason I'm sorta rooting for them

Plus my brother is a Ravens’ fan. It would have been awesome to have a GB/BAL SuperBowl, but.. with a #32 ranked defense, this is why we can’t have nice things.

The question is, "Why?"

A lot of car ads show stuff that their vehicles can actually do, even if it’s only on a closed track by a professional driver. These are showing things that the vehicle patently cannot do and telling you explicitly that they can’t. Are they trying to be meta-ironic by making fun of patently fake Youtube vids? Because I can’t see those ads working for anyone anywhere.

Ravens get INT. Refs should missed that illegal shift penalty and the Ravens get an INT next play.

Did anyone else notice how far off the line the Patriots tackles are? Aren’t they required by rule to have at least one body part on the line of scrimmage?

Wow this season sucks.

I already told you! I deal with the god damn receivers so the linebackers don’t have to! I have coverage skills; I’m good at covering people! Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?!

F that

“Gary Anderson” is the first thing that pops up on his caller ID

I'm gonna hibernate for a week

And then go to Seattle for a week. Fuck this noise

Im surprised

The ravens didn’t run the ball on 3rd and 1, then take a shot at the end zone.

I was thinking the same thing.

It's Billy Cundiff.

He was never good to begin with.

No excuses...

he flat out missed it

Looking forward to the Packers three-peating and visiting President Ron Paul at the White House in 2013

Yep

He pulled it, you could see it in his follow through. The holder did nothing wrong.

Bit worse than 9 drops and 3 fumbles with a hail mary, but not by much.

Alot of blown opportunities by the Ravens

Flacco missed two TD’s, not counting that 2nd and 1 play. Two opportunities to tie the game up, and they mess up both of them.

I'd think losing on a miss that that would be more painful

With ours we knew how the game was going to end with the way it was unfolding

True, for both of you. I'm just biased.

Not nearly the heartbreak

Hell, even the Vikings can’t approach that level of heartbreak

Jeebus Cripes

now we have to hear the “It’s 2007 all over again!” for the next 2 weeks if NY wins

I guess we know now why

harbaugh went for it on 4th down…didn’t trust his kicker — with good reason!

Talk about a rock and a hard place...

Leave the game in Flacco’s hands or Cundiff’s leg.

Harbaugh: “FML.”

Wilfork is the player of the game?

This explains why my yard is now white.

Wanted Baltimore to win

But had a feeling Joe Flacco would blow it again. Makes me feel blessed again to have Rodgers as our QB. Sure, that loss wasn’t pinned on Flacco alone, but that 4th Quarter interception and inability to score after the Baltimore turnover was simply disappointing…

One game at a time...

I should clarify

Flacco played good, but not good enough…once again.
