It Looks Like Winston Moss and Dom Capers Will Return To The Packers Next Season
Report: Moss, Capers out of running for Raiders job - JSOnline. It appears that new Raiders GM (and former Packers executive) Reggie McKenzie will not be bringing along someone from Green Bay to be first new head coach. Assistant head coach Winston Moss seemed like a good possibility, but Dom Capers was a weaker choice. Capers has already been hired and fired twice as a head coach, and the Packers defense wasn't too sharp under his leadership last season.
But I had never heard of Dennis Allen until his name was reported to be the front runner in Oakland. He's been the Broncos defensive coordinator for exactly one year, and he's never held any other position higher than secondary coach with the Saints. He must have had one heck of an interview with the Raiders.
While the Tim Tebow's were one of the biggest NFL stories of 2011, it wasn't because their defense dominated. LB Von Miller had a great rookie season (until his cheap shot at the end of their loss to the Patriots), and Dennis Allen did help improve their defense from one of the worst in 2010 to No. 19 overall according to Football Outsiders.
I've got nothing against Allen, and I didn't want to see either Moss or Capers leave, but this hiring surprised me.

Those are good news for us
I think he was a good hire for Oakland. Reggie was probably trying to find a dark horse candidate.
Tebow Denver’s defense is largely to credit for the major turnaround there and carrying the team to the playoffs.

Ditto on Denver's defense
Of course, it is widely known that they improved considerably because they were inspired by Tebow. That’s all it takes. Seriously, though, their ranking was probably brought down due to early season struggles. Then they had the mid-season debacle against the Lions. But, it really was the defense that got them to the playoffs with a few assists from Matt Prater.
The HC role isn’t always about hiring the best OC or DC…its a unique roll which is why you see some lesser known people succeeding quite often. Heck McCarthy wasn’t really on anyone’s radar when we hired him, he didn’t even come from a good team. I think that is important to keep in mind when you see these hirings.
The Green Bay Packers...Putting bad coaches out of their misery since 2010
I agree 100%
I think people far too often look at the recent record of a coach as the biggest indicator in how they will be moving forward. It’s a flawed approach.

You gotta love DOM
In the same circle as Lebeau. Respected, tough and bright. I cannot forget, I share his last name. Good keep for the Pack! Best of luck next season.
I'd sooner get Flacco'd out here in the middle of nowhere than lose face in front of my friends and family.
