How Much Is The NFL Paying The Commissioner?
It's been announced today that NFL Commisioner Roger Goodell has received a five-year extension on his current contract that will keep him in charge of the league until March 2019.
I'm a bit naive about executive compensation, but his salary surprised me. From Pro Football Talk:
Kaplan notes that Goodell made roughly $10 million-per-year before this news, and it’s safe to assume he’ll get a pay bump now.
It's not like he does nothing. Wrangling the egos of 31 traditional NFL owners (plus the Green Bay Packers) can be a challenge. But that's a whole lot of money for being a figurehead.

While that's a very large chunk o' change
He does run the most financially-successful professional sports league in the US. Would I say he deserves that kind of payday? Eh – probably not, but so long as the NFL keeps raking in the bucks, the head guy’s gonna get paid.

And for half as much, I'd wager.

It almost makes me sick to think about it...
He gets paid to be a glorified Principal and attend pro football games… In some cases, he takes on the Warden of a prison role… I respect the man, and if they are willing to pay him millions of dollars so be it. Admit I’m jealous as hell! : )
