4th & inches, I would almost always go for it, especially if you're past midfield

Momentum means little. Falcons would have gotten the ball pinned deep, and based on the way their offense is playing, probably would have punted.

The Lions follow up posts are hating on the refs for that loss. You only have to look at your own team for loosing, too many blown opportunities. To think that the lions could have been up 21-0 at halftime if they make a tackle on 3rd and 10 or get one of those 2 ints at the final drive, and score on one of 3 other possessions.

Play to Win Not to Lose

They need to take the collar off of Ryan’s neck and let em go. He’s not a rookie or a 2nd year player anymore and w/ talented players like White, Jones Gonzalez they should be putting up points offensively. If they would throw the ball downfield teams would respect that and it’d open up room for Turner to run.

haha yea something like that.. Giants are probably playing single safety high on 1st down trying to keep Falcons outta 2nd and med/short.. Take a shot by sending Jones and White on fly’s and look off the safety.. A Double move would work since their running lots of curls and comebacks.

It's almost like they intentionally pick losers to win championships.

Across all sports, they routinely pick teams that are slightly better than mediocre to win championships. It’s a striking pattern.

This season they picked the Falcons. Some time ago (year prior to 2004), they picked the Red Sox to win the World Series, which was certainly eyebrow-raising at the time and caused some laughter since Boston didn’t even make the postseason.

I think they finally got one right, but I remember reading, back in high school (in the 90s), that SI had a streak of like 40 straight years picking losers to win the college football championship.

It would be one thing if they picked plausible candidates. But that’s not the case. Their picks usually occasion laughter before the season even starts.

by HailVarsity on Jan 8, 2012 2:24 PM CST up reply actions

Whoops...

…I meant years prior to 2004 was when SI picked the Red Sox. It might have been 2000.

Crappy play calling for the Failcons

You have gotten little to no push in the run game when they are expecting it, and in previous games you have failed on 3/4th and short. Power run has not been working all day for you. So why not spread them out and try to run the ball that way? Force them to respect the pass, and if they don’t throw a slant or out for the first.

by Shoes31 on Jan 8, 2012 2:18 PM CST reply actions

the giants run remind me of how we were last year

1) their playoffs basically started in the regular season when they had to win to get in.
2) their first game was against a good offensive team (at least they got to play at home).
3) second game against the team with the best record in the league.

and that’s were the similarities end because we will fucking kill them next week.

Well you can't cherry pick your history

if you’re going to play the different teams from 2007 card, last year’s Giants team was quite different from now. If you’re going to say that simply because it’s in Lambeau that the Packers will win going away doesn’t make any sense at all.

2007 wasn't the last game at Lambeau

If you want to say that was the last time they played each other in the playoffs, ok. But, we also had a QB then who loved to throw game sealing INTs. Just take a look at his last playoff game with the Vikes.

Last year was the last time played at Lambeau, and it happened to be a win for us. True, the Pack played at MetLife and barely won, but it was still a hard fought victory. It’s not going to be an easy game for either team.

But still

You’re citing a team that is used to losing and used to self-deprecating. Humility is good, yes, but to be constantly self-deprecating? Right now, we’re the #1 seed, playing at home, have a 15-1 record, and have already beaten the Giants on your home turf this year. Let me ask you this. If the shoes were reversed and the Giants were the #1 seed, 15-1, reigning SB champs, and had already beaten their next playoff opponent earlier in the year, how do you think your fanbase would act? You mentioned earlier on my post below that you’re coming off a monster win and are excited about it, which I can understand completely. But honestly, you came over here, and said that. I could see if we had multiple people going over to BBV and talking smack, not giving the G-Men credit and dissing them at every turn, but we’re not. A lot of people here have mentioned plenty of times in the past few weeks that the Giants are the main team that we fear the most. Almost everyone here has a lot of respect for them.

Neither do the Giants fans

The bravado goes both ways. I was looking at one of the new stories on BBV and not a single Giants fan was worried about next week. I’m not going to say I’m not, because it’s the playoffs. Anything’s possible. But I think that GB, with home field advantage, and no Brett, still has a very good chance of beating them. Our D may give up yards, but they still make a lot of plays on the ball. Our D still has the most INTs in the league, don’t forget.

"The script doesn't change for us,… As long as we're taking care of things and keeping our focus on improving the quality of play, I don't think we can be beat. Look at it this way...

1. The giants couldn’t beat the packers at home while the packers were missing their starting middle linebackers, their all pro right gaurd, and their starting left tackle. What is supposed to make me think that the Packers can’t do better with all of those conditions remedied? I don’t take the field so I can be as cocky and complacent as I please.

The hubris on this page is incredible

this could have been a fantastic game, although I heard that since the Giants don’t even have a theoretical chance of winning they are planning to forfeit in order to not risk any more injuries heading into the offseason. It’s too bad, but I can see the logic in not wasting any time or manpower in what would obviously be a futile gesture.

Victor Cruz is the 2011 Ahmad Bradshaw. He giveth, and he taketh away. Thankfully he is giving much more now.

by bigbluethruandthru on Jan 8, 2012 11:28 PM CST reply actions

Again, both ways

I said it in a reply to Tommy D as well. I’ve been reading through BBV and NO one on your site is concerned about next weeks matchup. This is an open thread where people joke around for the most part. When it comes to the “Ask a team” threads, people are a lot more reasonable. Please don’t come into another teams house and insult them for being jokingly optimistic when everyone on your page is doing the same exact thing.

"The script doesn't change for us,… As long as we're taking care of things and keeping our focus on improving the quality of play, I don't think we can be beat. Yeah

in a thread immediately after a dominating performance, people are feeling good. If you think anyone is confident of a victory, you need to read a few more threads on our site this week. Predicting a win is one thing, being condescending towards the other team is hubris. I guarantee you nobody will insult the Packers abilities or teams. We’ll look for places we think they can beat the Packers, but there will be nothing but respect. Big difference.

Victor Cruz is the 2011 Ahmad Bradshaw. He giveth, and he taketh away. Thankfully he is giving much more now.

To be perfectly honest, I think you are being unreasonable.

You guys just won a playoff game that you should be excited about, and the first thing you do is come and flame your next opponent in an Open Thread, which if you’ve spent any time at APC at all (which you obviously haven’t) calls for a lot of jokes and hilarious/unrelated gifs and pictures. This isn’t the best place to come to and immediately start shouting “HUBRIS” and declare all Packers fans as cocky and disrespectful towards their opponent, neither of which are true. Seriously, go celebrate with your fans, you deserve it.
