Sympathies to Philbin and Packers Fans Everywhere

UPDATE: Monday's media session cancelled - JSOnline and Report: Packers told body of Michael Philbin has been identified | ProFootballTalk

Just saw the news bit about the horrible tragedy that has taken the life of Philbin's son, Michael. While no words can adequately express what the man is going through right now, allow me to express my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Joe Philbin. It's at times like these that everyone puts aside rivalries and differences and come together in a moment of something deeper, something that reflects out humanity.

As most of you are aware, Joe Philbin was recently interviewed by Scott Pioli as a coaching candidate for the Kansas City Chiefs. While Philbin did not get that particular opportunity, he'll no doubt have many others in the future. But beyond the career of a man is the home and family of a man, and when the life of a loved one is cut short it affects the future in unforeseen ways.

Mr Philbin, wherever you are and whatever you do: head high and stay strong, you have a nation of fans from all franchises behind you wishing you all the best from here on out. Good Luck and God Bless.

What news, where?

I can only find the story about him missing, but cannot find a reputable story about this tragedy.

Any sympathy and condolence you can feel, double it. Joe is one of the truly good ones, devoted to his family and his players; Diane is a peach. If anyone in WI can do anything to help, to support, please reach out on behalf of those of us too far away to do so.

Not too many places have mentioned TJ’s father passing (not that I’ve seen anyway). His father’s funeral was Monday. My condolences to both the Philbins and the Langs.

There aren't enough words

For me to express my condolences for the Philbin family, or for me to express my thanks for everyone who has posted in this thread. It’s times like these when we are reminded that regardless of how emotionally invested we are in football, it’s just a game, and life itself is far more important than the outcome of a game.

Thank you so much to everyone who has posted here.

Attics of My Life
Words by Robert Hunter, Music by Jerry Garcia
Performed 7/22/2011 by Levon Helm Band

In the attics of my life
Full of cloudy dreams unreal
Full of tastes no tongue can know
And lights no eye can see
When there was no ear to hear
You sang to me

I have spent my life
Seeking all that’s still unsung
Bent my ear to hear the tune
And closed my eyes to see
When there were no strings to play
You played to me

In the book of love’s own dream
Where all the print is blood
Where all the pages are my days
And all my lights grow old
When I had no wings to fly
You flew to me

You
flew
to me

In the secret space of dreams
Where I dreaming lay amazed
When the secrets all are told
And the petals all unfold
When there was no dream of mine
You dreamed of me

I Used to Sing for You
Words and music by Tracy Chapman

Sweet and high at the break of dawn
Simple tune that you can hum along too
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you

Knew all the words to the popular songs
With the radio on full volume
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you

Forget the chorus, you’re the bridge
The words and music to everyday I’ve lived
There’s nothing, I wouldn’t give
For one more time, when I can sing for you

Soft and low when the evening comes
Holding you, sleeping in my arms
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you

I used to sing for you
