Packers-Texans Series History

Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Quick rundown of the series history between the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans

Under normal circumstances, I would post this on Tuesday, but personal life got in the way and this is the first chance I have to write this.

Today, I will cover the Packers' series history against the Houston Texans.

The Packers-Texans series is unique among Green Bay's series ... it is an exact tie. Not only are the teams tied 1-1, but both teams have scored 37 points in the series. Coincidentally, the only other head-to-head series that is an exact tie is the Texans-49ers series, with both teams winning once while they have both scored 41 points in the series.

The Packers-Texans series began in 2004, when the Packers visited Houston. Green Bay went through a slew of running backs, with no one standing out much. Meanwhile, the Texans built up a 13-3 halftime lead. In the third quarter, the Packers' defense began holding Houston while in the fourth quarter, the offense finally got going. Green Bay won 16-13 on a last-second Ryan Longwell field goal. Favre, meanwhile, threw 50 passes in the game.

In 2008, the Packers and Texans played each other in Green Bay. This game would be known as Matt Schaub's coming-out party as he threw for 414 yards. The Packers fought valiantly, but Houston won 24-21 on a late field goal, due to yet another defensive collapse late in that season.

What are your memories of the Packers facing the Texans?
