Packers vs. Giants: Wednesday Injury Report

Matthew Stockman

It's Wednesday which means it's time for the our first glance at the health of the team. More good news than usual this week with Greg Jennings returning to practice and many names dropping off the list.

It’s Thanksgiving and so you will be subjected to many "What are you thankful for" types of entertainment and articles over the next couple days. You’ll hear about which stars are thankful for what. During the games the talking heads will talk about what they are thankful for. Your family may even have a tradition of going around the table at the meal and forcing everyone to come up with something to be thankful for as well.

Not to be outdone, I’m going to give you something I’m thankful for…less names on the injury report for the Packers. Lots of names that have graced this list over the past couple weeks are now gone and there are only two players simply counted out at the beginning of the week (Woodson and Shields). This is all great news and shows positive signs that the team is finally, finally getting healthy.

Let’s take a look at the list….

Name Position Injury Wed. Status
Donald Driver WR Thumb LP
Greg Jennings WR Groin / Abdomen LP
John Kuhn FB Hamstring LP
Terrell Manning LB Shoulder LP
Andrew Quarless TE Knee LP
Clay Matthews LB Hamstring DNP
B.J. Raji DT Ankle FP
Sam Shields CB Ankle Out
Vic So'oto LB Illness DNP
Erik Walden LB Ankle LP
Charles Woodson DB Collarbone Out

You may note that Jordy Nelson, T.J. Lang, Mike Neal, D.J. Williams, and Jerel Worthy (to name a few) appear nowhere on this list. That’s good. Better yet, Greg Jennings and Clay Matthews are not simply counted out from the get go. That’s very good….but coach McCarthy does not sound optimistic that either will play this week. So it’s not all great news.

Along with the Packers list here is a look at the Giants’ injury list for this week as well…

Name Position Injury Wed Status
David Baas C Ankle / Elbow FP
Ahmad Bradshaw RB Foot DNP
Domenik Hixon WR Ankle DNP
Linval Joseph DT Knee DNP
Kenny Phillips S Knee LP
Keith Rivers LB Calf / Knee LP
Tyler Sash S Ankle FP
Chris Snee G Ankle FP
Jacquian Williams LB Knee LP

The best news for the Packers on this list is that Ahmand Bradshaw and Joseph Linval both did not practice on Wednesday. Linval is a defensive tackle who has been having a solid year so far, and any help that the Packers can get controlling that defensive line is good news.

Bradshaw is a solid playmaker and productive member of the Giants’ offense that has been struggling as of late. Bradshaw being out of the game could further make the Giants a one dimensional team and place more responsibility on the shoulder of Eli Manning.
