Packers linebacker Clay Matthews may be sidelined with a hamstring injury for up to a couple weeks, but the team's upcoming bye could allow him to miss just one game.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews could be sidelined for "a couple weeks," due to the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's victory over the Arizona Cardinals, as coach Mike McCarthy tells Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin. Matthews limped off the field in the first half and never returned to the game.

For a player that's had hamstring injuries in the past, Green Bay is understandably considering the cautious route given how much time is left in the season. The Packers are surging at 6-3, but they'll need a healthy Matthews in future games down the stretch.

Luckily for Matthews, the Packers have a bye on Sunday, so he may only miss one game before returning for the team's Sunday night match-up in the Meadowlands against the New York Giants on Nov. 25.

The fourth-year pro was rather quiet before leaving the game against Arizona, but he's still recorded 31 tackles and 9 sacks, tied for the second-highest figure in the NFL. If he is able to return against the Giants, Matthews should remain on track to be one of the league's most prolific pass rushers this year.
