Erik Walden Pleads No Contest And Receives A Deferred Judgment
Green Bay Packers news | Walden takes plea agreement in misdemeanor case | Green Bay Press Gazette. I don't know if this helps Erik Walden's chances of sticking with the Green Bay Packers, he can't avoid the fact that he faded down the stretch, but his November arrest shouldn't interfere with his NFL career. Even if he doesn't return to the Packers, I expect he'll be playing somewhere in the NFL next season.
If he stays out of trouble for the next twelve months, the entire incident will be "erased from the records" in Brown County.

I see him leaving personally
Just the feeling I get. We are going to find a full time starter in the draft and Zombo can be a capable back up. So’oto is running through there also.
Just needs to get that gold jacket tailored...
And off to Canton, he goes!

Walden
I hope they bring him back for training camp. He has some ability, I don’t think he is a playmaking star, but I feel pretty good about him as a backup.. for the right price. I think he needs to be back for training camp, if he doesn’t receive a decent offer from another team.
There are maybe 4-5 OLB in the draft that would be able to make an immediate impact, there are probably a couple that are worthy of getting playing time. I don’t know if we will be able to get a high impact guy early or if we will grab a DL. If we don’t get an OLB we have: Zombo, Jones, So’oto, Lattimore- not that Walden is that much better than any of these guys, but it’s not exactly a treasure trove position.
One guy I like is Ahmad Brooks, a FA from the 49ers. If we could sign him to a team friendly deal, I would be fine with Walden or Zombo/Jones as the primary back up, while bringing along So’oto, Lattimore, or a rookie. As anti-free agency as this team is, I think it is a distinct possibility and this year presents a good opportunity with some decent players at OLB and DL. I am pretty high on Brooks and also DE Calais Campbell. I think FA is usually pretty boring for the packers, it’s mostly a. we bring a guy back or b. we let a guy go. I think we will be making some moves this year though, I’m sure TT will be working extra hard this year all-around.
Campbell
Would be awesome… But I think he’ll stay in AZ and he’ll be REALLY expensive. Probably the best young 34 DE in the game. He’s gonna get top $$$ if he makes it too FA.
Our Biggest Challenge is how we deal w/ Success!
I've been ignoring Campbell as a free agent option
I’d be shocked if the Cardinals didn’t extend him soon, or place the franchise tag on him. He’s not going anywhere.
Just as a friendly reminder ~
We could’ve had Calais Campbell with the 36th pick in the ’08 draft… lol

GO PACK GO!!!
Sure, but you’ve gotta take into account that Campbell wasn’t really a true 4-3 DT or 4-3 DE. I thought all the picks he made at the time were fine. Brohm was a big bust but he was supposedly the 2nd best QB according to every report I remember reading. And even Lee was supposed to be a physical, fast corner that excelled in man coverage. I think the injuries he had have slown him down a lot.

I can forgive you, packallday555
I can cut you a break, packallday555, but GMs are paid to know better. A higher standard applies.

We could have had Barry Sanders instead of Tony Mandarich

1989 top five picks:
Troy Aikman
Tony Mandarich
Barry Sanders
Derrick Thomas
Deion Sanders
At the number two slot, a monkey would have a 75% chance of picking a HoFer. Tom Braatz whiffed.
But it all worked out in the end. The Mandarich pick ruined Braatz and set the stage for Wolf.

I don't see him making the team next season...
I’m thinking we draft at least one OLB, and possibly signing some no name FA (and by no name, I mean not a high profile guy)

Thanx for clearing that up.
(and by no name, I mean not a high profile guy)
I thought you meant some guy without a name.
