Ted Thompson Is Leaving No Stone Unturned: Scouting The Players All-Star Classic
Players All-Star Classic Practice Notes: Day Two | National Football Post. If you haven't heard of the Players All-Star Classic, it's because it's a brand new college all-star game debuting this weekend. Yes, the same weekend as the Super Bowl, when most NFL teams will probably have their attention focused elsewhere. Maybe that will make it easy to remember when the game is played.
I'm not sure how valuable it is for scouts. Maybe it should be called the undrafted free agent bowl. It seems like a good place to look at players who might be worth a spot on the practice squad.
The only two GMs who were seen scouting the practices this week were Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson and 49ers GM Trent Baalke. I found that a little ironic because they were the top two vote getters for the AP Executive of the Year award. Maybe more GMs should be in attendance.

TT is more comfortable in mid rounds and street free agents
And he does a great job at it. He does well in in first rounds, but only it seems, on value picks. Rodgers is his most famous value pick in the first round, but he struggles with his own pick. Raji is his best, but the jury suddenly went out on Raji this last year, same with Hawk. The trade for Clay was his best trade by TT, and this year here’s hoping for the best class of draft picks yet. Still, I often wonder if TT could trade his whole draft class for all the undrafted free agents I think he would. lol
Raji's still legit
only issue for him this year was that because no one else could get any push, the other team could use more players to block Raji. it’s tough to be a NT when your DE’s cant do anything

Yep. Teams just shifted protection towards Matthews, which took away some of the man to man matchups where Raji did a lot of damage in 2010.

Huh?
I don’t get it. Because of a lack of other good D-line players, other teams were able to double up on Clay Matthews AND BJ Raji. Which leaves like a half of a player on the rest of the guys and they still couldn’t get it done? And yeah, Hawk is another bust.
This again?
Hawk is far from a bust. He is a productive player, who has and will continue to play in this league for a good long while. Sure, his production does not match up with his draft position. But if he was picked near the end of the first round or anywhere else, this would not even be an issue. Not every player needs to be a star, majority of them need to be role players for a team to succeed. Hawk is one such role player.
Not every player needs to be a star, but our defense sure could’ve used one last year.

Well, I’m talking mostly about rushing the passer. I saw instances where teams left either their TE or RB on the backside to block Walden, who rarely could even beat them. And a guy like Wynn or Wilson are merely serviceable guys.
Hey, there’s probably not anybody here who rips Hawk more than I do. I think he’s nothing more than average but that doesn’t make him a bust.

Brandon, I really enjoy your work.
But that’s not what ironic means, and I feel like you’ve made that mistake before.

You're not going to get a denial out of me...
… but I’m comfortable with it.

On the other hand,
the misuse of the word “ironic” is always ironic. So he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

Ironic or indicative?

On another note, all irony aside, TT looks constipated in that picture.
I already told you! I deal with the god damn receivers so the linebackers don’t have to! I have coverage skills; I’m good at covering people! Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?!
ironic.. because he just ate Chipotle and Qdoba.. and was anything but constipated… ;)

"Ted Thompson Is Leaving..."
Phew! The RSS feed to MyYahoo had just the above part of the article title in the first line, and as I was navigating elsewhere, I caught that phrase but didn’t see the full title.
So glad there was more to the title (and the article) than that.
