Nike taking over Jerseys
First I'd like to say hello to all packers fans. I've read this site for a while and thought I would join. Anyway, I was online shopping for a new packers jersey and found out that Nike is taking over making them. After seeing what they have done NCAA jerseys, it concerns me that they will make them look terrible. What do all of you think about Nike handling jerseys now and how will you feel if they drastically change the jerseys for the pack?
From Brandon: Here's a link to a story from Pro Football Talk.

I'm not worried about it too much.
I don’t think Nike will have the right to change the jerseys on their own. Sports franchises that have bad streaks frequently change uniforms to sell more jerseys. Franchises that have traditional roots and are constant competitors don’t have many uniform changes. I don’t see the Pack’s uniforms changing.

Welcome
I have heard that the NFL isn’t going to have Nike drastically change the uniforms. At least I hope not, those hypothetical designs someone released for every team were mostly bad (Especially the Patriots).
Taked baby. Meet at later bar, night or day sometime.
I doubt there’s anyway theyll make them look like those released a while back but I know the material will change and designs slightly. Let’s just all hope they won’t change too much. If anybody is interested they have the Reebok ones for 59.99 on nflshop right now until they are sold out

I doubt the Packers jerseys are going to change at all.
Since the 80s, the only thing that has changed has been the armstripes a tad. Now with Carolina getting a newer, sleeker logo, chances are they’ll opt for a newer, sleeker type of uniform. We probably won’t hear sqaut about them until after the draft.

I hope they don't go crazy with the design.
Maybe they can come up with something for the road jerseys (I love the green, home jerseys).
The Packers thought about trying something new in the 1990s
No new look Packer jersey ever showed up on the field, but from what I recall it didn’t test well behind the scenes (or whatever research they did). The fans they asked apparently wanted the Packers to look the same. The uniforms have changed slightly over the years, but nothing major.
Greg Jennings was already sporting a pair of the new gloves at the Pro Bowl, and I thought it looked pretty cool.
Was that when they had the idea of the gold colored jerseys or the "Wal-Mart" look jerseys?
By the “Wal Mart look” I mean this:

hey guys, first time poster, and shareholder
I know a few people who are in the Nike-NFL category and they tell me that the teams and league get final say on uniforms. I have a hard time imagining there will be any drastic changes to the Packers uniforms but I haven’t seen any designs either. So anything you see this next season has been approved by the league and given the OK by teams.
Go Pack
Great first post.
I don’t think Nike will do too much to the jersey. I noticed a lot of stores have been clearing out old Packer jerseys from the other brands. Hopefully, Nike stays the current course.

The NFL is very protective of their branding so I am sure they still have full control over anything that is released. Nike makes pretty good products and having a Nike logo on the jersey’s might even increase sales a little for the people that really care about brands.

If they change the Packers' jerseys...
I won’t do anything about it, because I have no power. But I might shed a tear.

Prices going up
Comments from a Packer Pro Shop employee, late last year in the Green Bay Press Gazette or Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, indicate Nike will charge more for what Reebok produced. As a result, many retailers which had NFL jerseys from Reebok, saw NFL jerseys flying off the shelves. I had a hard time finding an Aaron Rodgers jersey for my youngest daughter. She had to “settle” for Clay Matthews!
No wonder my sister's Clay Matthews jersey was so damn hard to find
It all makes sense now!
Yeah, I work at Dick's Sporting Goods,
and we discounted our entire stock of Bears stuff for half price so we could get rid of all of our Reebok Bears unis. I thought we should do it anyways, because paying full price for Bears gear is wrong, but that’s just me…

I wondered what ours were going to look like, saw the Vikings version on DN earlier this week. What do they look like separated though?

Wait?
You went on DN and survived not to be banned? I figured just your signature would had you banned after three words.

haha its amazing I haven’t since I’ve gone over there a lot. I think Gates knows that when I come its not to flaunt or taunt…its usually to talk about the stadium deal or something big that is happening in the cities (cause I live there). Even with that, I still get people that yell troll after they discover I am from the “dark side”.

In all seriousness,
I think the ESPN message boards might be a more intelligent place than that site. It’s not worth interacting with their usual crowd.
Baseball, you can't get here soon enough.
Jennings was wearing those in the Pro Bowl

I do like those gloves
But it cracks me up that a college player can get in trouble for making the logo with them.
2011: A wasted year
IIRC
The NFL only allows 1 or 2 games with alternate jersey’s each year, so you won’t have to worry about a Oregon situation. I believe there are also rules in place to prevent teams from changing their main jerseys twice in 5 years or something along those lines. Also Nike is usually good with their jersey’s any ways so you shouldn’t have to worry about a Maryland situation (Under Armour).
"I'm here to talk about the economy today -- about the need to get four quarters of strong, consistent performance. That wasn't another Jay Cutler joke, I swear. It could be, but it's not."
In case you were wondering, and I’m sure we all were, here’s Nike’s fake Packers jersey. It’s not bad, but I miss the stripes.

That concept jersey doesn't look as bad as this:
This is just horruhawful:

I like those
I don’t care for the reversed helmet stripe (why?), but other than that, I think it looks pretty sharp. I kinda like the number font (though I would reserve judgement until I see what the other numbers look like), and I like how they have the nod to the old buffalo logo on the chest.
Certainly better than the Packers uniform where the stripes are completely trashed (even the helmet stripe).

"Skip, once again, stop it; Be an analyst; don't be a douchebag."
Yeah, the missing stripes makes this feel a bit high-school-ish
The lighting is odd, so I can’t tell – does the helmet still have the stripes?
Clearly I need to read what Wiedmann says
No stripes = no go.
Nike won't be changing the look of the jerseys much if at all - teams own their logo and look
They will be changing the materials and fabrics used to their “Pro Combat” line, but they’re not going to be drastically altering the look of the uniforms. A bunch of renderings hit the web a while back and they were claimed to be the “new Nike jerseys” – someone posted them above, but they were not created by Nike and were a football fanboy/designers concept.
Nike is going to focus on the stuff that makes them more money anyway – the accessories. The gloves (as seen on Jennings in the Pro Bowl), the shoes, etc. are what they are going to push the hardest.
But everyone can exhale, the Packers uniforms won’t change much

Any thoughts on the shoes?
I dunno.. kind of look like bowling shoes kind of.

I think the only one I don't despise is the Chargers (assuming a bolt substituted for the swish)

Detroit to get Oregon similar jersyes?

If real, then Lions will look really similar to Oregon.
These aren't real
These jersey’s have been going around for a while yet and it’s been confirmed that they are fakes. (See the above discussion)
"I'm here to talk about the economy today -- about the need to get four quarters of strong, consistent performance. That wasn't another Jay Cutler joke, I swear. It could be, but it's not."
I know that, just fun to speculate
I realize some of the older teams (Packers, Bears, Steelers, etc.) wouldn’t allow some of the changes that have been drawn up. Some teams have newer jerseys and probably wouldn’t be open to change. The “Nike designs” that we are seeing more and more of are more of a college based style.
All I was really trying to get at, is that this uniform design is very similar to the Oregon Duck design with the wings on the shoulders.
