Here is my version of the Lions 2012 Mock Draft. I shared this over on pride of Detroit as well. Once again, no fan puns or cheap shots intended. Enjoy.
Round 1: Stephen Gilmore/CB/ South Carolina- For as good as the Lions passing game was in 2011, there pass defense was equally atrocious. Gilmore would provide an instant upgrade at the cornerback position.
Round 2: Amini Silatolu/OG/Midwestern State- Stafford was able to stay on the field last season, but that doesn't mean the Lions should not be looking to upgrade the offensive line.
Round 3: Bernard Pierce/RB/Temple- Pierce was an highly productive player at Temple, and could get lots of carries early on in the season.
Round 4: Casey Hayward/CB/Vanderbilt- The Lions secondary needs upgrades, like now.
Round 5: A.J. Jenkins/WR/Illinois- Stafford could always use another weapon or two. After all, somebody is bound to figure out a way to slow down Megatron.
Round 7A: Marcel Jones/OT/Nebraska- Offensive line depth is always a nice thing to have, and Jones would help with that cause.
Round 7B: Danny Trevathan/OLB/Kentucky- Trevathan made tackle after tackle his entire career at Kentucky, and if given a chance in the NFL, could do the same thing.
