Hey everyone. This is the first time I have visited this site since that fateful Sunday afternoon in January when the Packers decided that afternoon was a good time to play the worst game they have played in a long, long, long time. I haven't been back or read much about the Packers anywhere else other than when Finley resigned and to keep myself updated on Matt Flynn and Donald Driver. I have actually spent most of my daily allotted reading time over on the Daily Norseman, because quite frankly, and I mean this in a humorous way, those guys are probably the most entertaining bunch on the internet.
However at the same time, every time I read one of their posts or articles over there it reminds me of why I love being a Packer fan, why we are all blessed as Packer fans, and why Packer fans are the best in the world. We cheer for perhaps the best run organization in American sports. Yes, the Packers put on their worst performance in a long time in that playoff game. This is true. However we haven't heard one person in the organization demand that heads roll, wholesale changes be made, big name free agents be signed, or coaches be fired, and for the most part Packer fans have had the same tune. I came to this site and you know what the first thing that caught my eye was? Not a free agent list of guys they should sign, but a post saying they should spend a late round draft choice on Russell Wilson and develop(A word that I think Packer fans probably understand better than anyone) him as a backup QB to Rodgers. I also don't see anyone yelling at Ted Thompson for not tagging Flynn or even Wells for that matter. Now personally I think they should have tagged Wells. But Thompson didn't, and I don't question a darn thing he does. He is the best at what he does in the entire world, and for the most part Packer nation understand this. Thompson is well aware that the pass rush is a necessity, but if he lets free agency go by without signing anyone(and he probably will), and if he doesn't take a pass rusher within the first couple of rounds of the draft, well then I guess he probably knows something about Brad Jones, Mike Neal, and C.J. Wilson that the rest of us don't. In fact wasn't it either him or McCarthy that said "Jones will be key contributor to the Packers this upcoming season" or something like that? Who knows, maybe that is code for something, hey?
Yes it is fun to speculate and to try to predict which pass rusher he will draft. But, the bottom line here is whatever he does, whatever decisions he makes, Packer fans, for the most part, have learned to sit down, shut up, and trust him. That is why we are the best fans in the world.
Just to prove my point, I have included a poll here. Do you trust Ted Thompson?
