Poll: A Look at 2005 Draft

So, as we all know, the draft is coming up soon. I'm gonna put out a few of these; a look at the drafts since 2005 to present. What I want you to do is look at our drafts and give a rating.

I want you to look at the players and where they went, and compare them to who was available at the time. Also, I want you to consider the impact of each player and grade accordingly.

How this is going to look is I will start out with the draft pick and where they were picked in the draft. Then I will look for the closest comparable position, and show how many picks we were infront of them. This could go two ways. If there is a close margin, I'd like you to look at that other position player and see if there is a comparaison as to who is better. If there is a big difference between the picks, see if the player we drafted is much better than the player who went later, or if you think there was a chance to trade down to get him a few picks later. Also if there is a big margin, consider if the player we selected was far and away better than that next guy.

Then I will show the best player within 10-15 picks of our pick. Look at which player is better, and make your total decision.

So, with the 2005 draft, here we go.

So, the biggest thing that stands out to me is that we could have had a guy like Vincent Jackson. I know that he's a little of a head case and is all about the Benjamins, but the guy can play some football. Other than that, the whole vaunted "TT late pick gems" aren't really there. Thinking that we could have had a decent TE and backup starting QB to trade off / get compensatory pick in the 7th round, I can't see any gems in there. This draft for us is definitely top heavy, with only two players I think still on our team from this draft.

So, what sort of grade do you think this draft recieves?....
