Does anyone remember when Darrelle Revis was a prospect in the NFL Draft, Mike Mayock declared over and over that he would be the best defensive player to come out of the 2007 draft class, and everyone said that he was crazy? Turns out Mike Mayock knows his stuff. People tend to take him seriously now, even when he says stuff that seems a little out there.
If this came out of anyone else's mouth, we might dismiss it, but it's Mayock. Mayock says that Chandler Jones is going to be the best defensive player that comes out of the 2011 NFL Draft. Really. I was not watching the program that Mayock uttered this on, but I'm going to take Andrew Siciliano's word for it.
Mike Mayock just now @nflnetwork : "Three years from now, Chandler Jones is the best defensive player that comes out of this draft."

For those unfamiliar with Jones, he's a 4-3 DE/3-4 OLB tweener with great athleticism. He's the brother of both Arthur Jones of the Baltimore Ravens and Jon Jones, the UFC's Light Heavyweight Champion. He's had 2 1/2 solid years, but his most recent year was cut short by injury. Before his knee injury, he was putting up excellent stats for Syracuse.
Jones was a productive guy in college, but I think he's better off putting on a little weight and playing defensive end than he is taking a little off and playing outside linebacker. Have you seen Jones play in college or work out? Any thoughts on whether or not he would be a good fit for the Packers as a 3-4 OLB?
