Alex Smith better than Rodgers? Ignore the stats and read the evidence by the prosecution below.
Hate to say it but.....Alex Smith is still better than Aaron Rodgers, despite conventional wisdom. Rodgers is a great QB, but Alex Smith is better. Things like this just happen when there's 2 dominant QB's in the draft, and we'll likely see the same story unfold from this past draft with Luck and Griffin III
What you have to do is ignore the stats.....While Rodgers may easily surpass Smith in a statistical sense(and he does), Rodgers had the benefit of learning behind a HOF QB and playing in the greatest offensive scheme the NFL has seen with Mike McCarthy calling the shots. There's also the talent disparity at the o-line group and skill position group, as Alex has had to deal with below average lines and #4/#5 WR types for his whole career here. Then there's the issue of Rodgers grounds crew being much betetr than Smith's as Rodgers grounds crew always has the grass cut well at Lambeau field while Smith has been forced to play in grass resembling a jungle you might find in Africa.
Don't get alarmed....you still got a steal. A QB of Rodgers talent at the #24 pick is a bargain. The dolphins should have taken him #2. But better than Alex Smith? I'm afraid not.
